Web3 High Scale Containers Administrator

DESCRIPTION:

The High Scale Containers Administrator is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate individual to join the team at Foundry, a subsidiary of the blockchain industry’s most prolific and active investor, Digital Currency Group. Reporting to the Manager of Staking and Scaling Solutions, the High Scale Containers Administrator will be focused on creating and building the software stack for Foundry’s mining and staking operations.

This is a rare invitation to join a small, highly professional entrepreneurial group, with the backing of the most established player in the fast-growing crypto space.

This position is based at Foundry HQ in Rochester, NY.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the deployment, orchestration, and reliable operation of containers in large scale for crypto protocols
  • Use the best practices for large scale deployment while guarantee all the requirements of the crypto protocols were respected
  • Install and upgrade, create and integrate automation processes in large scale
  • Maintain and expand of CEPH filesystem (clients monitors/sentries, media servers and OSDs)
  • Troubleshoot software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Monitor and report errors and interact with other engineers to fix errors
  • Extract and compile reports of resources usage
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications that satisfy compliance requirements
  • Responsible for operational capacity administration of high scalable operations
  • Work closely to the operations, development, and security teams to guarantee an efficient use of solutions for large scale deployment

ABOUT YOU:

Minimum Qualifications; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years of experience with namespaces/cgroups, Kubernetes or OpenShift networking & troubleshooting (DNS, load balancers, service IPs, node ports, etc.)
  • 2 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • Scripting knowledge in Bash, Python, and other languages
  • IT certifications in Linux, Kubernetes or OpenShift are a plus
  • Experience working with Debian based Linux distributions and open-source software
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of automation tools including Ansible, Ansible Tower and API calls a plus
  • A proven track record of implementing container solutions
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
