We are looking for a productive, meticulous, and empathetic leader who loves working in an energetic and free-thinking environment, feels comfortable with challenging technical problems, and most importantly who shares with us the same desire to make the web free again.

We are looking for a person to lead the work on data platform and analytics that would connect our developer products, especially the upcoming Developer Console. As the scope of the project grows, your team will separate into the Data Platform team that will own everything about data acquisition, processing, visualization, and analytics.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Developer Console team on threading the necessary data into the Developer Console and visualizing it. Building a Data Platform into a standalone project;
  • Leading by example, writing the code, fixing bugs, and participating in design discussions when it is necessary to help the engineers working with you.
  • Establishing and following the minimal necessary processes, like technical roadmaps, OKRs, milestones, regular team meetings;
  • Establishing resilient team culture that can overcome any turbulence without burnout;

Competencies

  • Deep technical skills in the area of data manipulation and analysis. Experience with the Apache data stack, Big Query, Map Reduce or analogous technologies;
  • Experience or ability to work with a variety of programming languages and technologies, including JavaScript, Rust, Python;
  • Focus on improving developer and user experience;
  • You should be a great communicator and remain calm under pressure or when juggling multiple priorities;
  • You should be a humble and inspirational leader who is comfortable leading by example;
  • We expect you to have good project management skills;

Nice-to-haves

  • Open source contributions and previous or continued involvement in open source communities
  • Familiarity with Ethereum development and related technologies (web3.js, ethers.js, etc)
  • Familiarity with other crypto or blockchain technologies
  • Experience working at a startup

About NEAR and the NEAR Collective

NEAR's purpose is to enable community-driven innovation to benefit people around the world and its mission is to drive the adoption of Open Technologies. The NEAR platform provides a decentralized application platform that is secure enough to manage high value assets like money or identity and performant enough to make them useful for everyday people, putting the power of Open Finance and the Open Web in their hands.

The NEAR platform, NEAR Protocol, and associated tooling are being built by the NEAR Collective, a collection of the best engineers in the world who work across teams, companies and countries similar to other large scale open-source projects. Core contributors include a couple of 2-time ICPC world champions, 4 gold medalists, a Latin American champion and multiple other competitive programming finalists.

About the NEAR Foundation

The NEAR Foundation is a nonprofit, non-beneficiary foundation based in Switzerland which supports community-driven innovation and the Open Web with a specific focus on the NEAR platform. The Foundation distributes grant funding into the NEAR ecosystem, coordinates governance among participants, educates people about the protocol and ensures that relationships among the community members are as strong and sustainable as the apps they build. It seeks to combine the inclusive care of a community-driven NGO with the at-scale effectiveness of a Silicon Valley startup.
