Senior Backend Engineer/Engineering Manager
My wide experience and the ability to build for large scale has provided me the innovative and technical skills to successfully provide you with multifaceted technical solutions.
At Softcom (my current role), I am responsible for the development of 2 high-traffic application portal APIs and admin management APIs that have been used by over 50,000 concurrent users and over 6 million user application submissions in a month. I was instrumental to the architecture design, development, optimisation, documenting and performance measurement of all the APIs.
In the last few years, I have contributed to the core of two fintech products. The first, Eyowo (eyowo.com) - a bank app that allows users to send money to another user using their phone number as well as traditional bank accounts. I contributed to the Eyowo USSD service that allows users bank with USSD sessions as well as being the sole backend engineer in delivering the retail/e-commerce service that allows users to create an online store. This service has since been made a stand alone product called Kwiksell Online Store. Secondly, Ladda (getladda.com) - an investment app that allows users to invest in mutual funds, stocks and create saving plans. I worked on stabilizing the integration with a third party called Drivewealth, saving plans automation and the early detection of fraudulent activities.
Transitioning into a senior and managerial role, I took up the responsibilities of managing a team of 13 engineers across different levels where I provided mentorship to the junior engineers by engaging them often & also providing learning path, communicated clear career progression & company quarterly goals to the team, monthly 1v1 check-ins with the team to ensure everyone is mentally ready to do their best work which is critical to the success of the team, the products we are building and the company.

Programming languages & Frameworks: JavaScript, TypeScript PHP, HTML, Node.js, Laravel, Golang (learning stage), Vue.js, Nuxt.js and Express.js.
Database: MySQL and MongoDB, Postgresql.
Servers: AWS EC2, Heroku and GCP.
Tools: Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, JIRA, Jenkins, Putty, VSCode, Studio3T, PhpMyAdmin and Postman.
