clifford

My name is Clifford Silindana, I am a Computer Science and Business Computing student at University of Cape Town. It sounds corny but it is not untrue, I am passionate about problem solving using code and building products that live on the internet.

In the year 2020, I felt a strong interest in coding, and I decided to teach myself to code in Python before I enrolled at UCT for my degree in 2021. In my formal education I was taught programming fundamentals in Python and Java. I was always interested in building real-life projects and so I decided to take it upon myself to equip myself with the Django framework, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React. I have managed to build personal projects using these tools to solidify my understanding. I was also always interested in Blockchain in the year 2020. I recently learnt about decentralized app development using Solidity and Hardhat, which is building apps that operate on the blockchain; it involved blockchain and I was enjoying coding, it was a no-brainer to follow this interest. I am teaching myself Solidity, the programming used on the Blockchain and I have built a project for this as well. To expose myself to the tech community, I decided to start a YouTube channel on which I share my projects and live coding sessions with the intent to teach someone who might encounter my channel. The link to my channel is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQLA-BNPZ9a3PkIoAZc1-dg

I am aware a lot of Software Development roles are strict with the degree requirement. I may only be in my second year right now, but I believe I can contribute fully in a team setting if given the opportunity. With the projects I have completed, I would get frustrated on my own in my room when encountering bugs, and I would eventually unblock myself and I developed the skill of fixing my own bugs. I believe my learning would be accelerated with the presence of a professional mentor. Yes I have programming languages I am familiar with, but I am willing to learn any other technologies you are specializing in. For example, I am currently taking C# at school and although we were not advised to, I have chosen to build my school project with ASP.NET core as I am aware it is industry standard.

I am looking to stay for the long haul in the Web3 space, I am therefore looking for a type of job that will challenge me, help me learn a lot, allow me to contribute to other developers' learning journey, potentially a job that will also require me to think in a business sense and not only a technical sense because I am passionate about entrepreneurship as well.Β

Thank you.
