Culture Marketing Consultant

Martín is a senior cultural marketing strategist with over 25 years of experience in developing projects that help identify possible paths of progress for the music and cultural ecosystems. Proven success in team leadership and development, product development, operational excellence and organizational development in startups and multinationals.

During the early days of the Internet, he recognized the value of spreading the word about how this technology empowers the creative class like no other tool has before. Since then, he has spent 20 years developing different types of projects at the intersection of creative culture and the Internet. From projects with multinationals to start-ups, his work has always focused on finding a balance between economic benefit and positive social impact.

Medellin has played a pivotal role in his creative career. Starting Paisas.com in 1999, he became one of the pioneers of the Internet in the country. In 2010 he directed and produced the tenth version of Un-Convention (Manchester, UK). And in early 2012, he had the privilege as executive producer to witness the recordings of Ondatrópica's debut album at the now defunct Discos Fuentes studio.

Loaded with these learnings and thanks to his previous work in cities such as Manizales, Medellin, Bogota, New York, Miami, Havana, Lima, San Jose, Costa Rica and Kingston, they served to prepare him for his most challenging role to date. He led one of the most ambitious cultural marketing projects Red Bull funded in the last decade, Red Bull Station (2015-2019) a "creative factory" in downtown São Paulo that served to strengthen the brand's reputation by boosting the country's urban culture. And at the same time, it enhanced his vision of how peer-to-peer learning and mutual support strengthen culture. He believes he has seen a preamble to our collective creative potential for the 21st century.

In the last three years his efforts have focused on research on the impact of web3 in the music ecosystem and he has participated in training processes to strengthen peer learning in the music and cultural ecosystem with the support of the following entities: British Council (Bogotá, Col), UNESCO (San José, CR), 423Hz (Buenos Aires, Arg), IDARTES (Bogotá, Col), Parque Explora (Medellín, Col) and In Place of War (Manchester/Medellín).

He is currently an apprentice at Water & Music (New York City, USA) a DAO researching the intersection between music and technology and an ambassador for FUTURX, the Latin American web-based learning and exchange community on music and technology3.

I am interested in applying my experience, web3 learnings and some critical thinking to help build tools and companies eager to create an ecosystem where progress and wealth flows in a transparent and fair way.
