Ph.D. In Distributed Systems

I hold a Ph.D. in Distributed Systems from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and I look forward to contributing to cutting-edge work in Blockchain and related areas.

My academic and professional journey has been shaped by a consistent interest in taking on new challenges. I graduated first in my class in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil, earning the distinction of Summa Cum Laude. Before my doctorate studies, I worked as a data analyst at FortBrasil, a Brazilian financial institution, where I developed predictive models for credit scoring using Python.

During my Ph.D., I focused my research on the performance and scalability of distributed protocols in fully asynchronous networks, with applications for asset transfer. I explored probabilistic techniques and decentralized trust models, leading to publications in important venues such as PODC and OPODIS. I also contributed to the implementation of some of the proposed protocols in Golang, gaining hands-on experience in translating theory into practice.

My interest in blockchain technology and its potential to enable decentralized, community-driven services was a key motivation for pursuing a Ph.D. in distributed systems. From the beginning, I was drawn to the challenge of designing systems that can establish mutual trust among participants in the absence of centralized control. Today, I would love to continue my career within the Web3 environment, where I can apply my theoretical expertise to the design of faster and more secure protocols.

Beyond distributed systems, I have a strong interest in artificial intelligence and reinforcement learning. Lately, I have been deepening my skills in Rust through personal projects, including a library for model-based reinforcement learning agents, which I hope to expand toward distributed and blockchain applications.

Lastly, I value working in multidisciplinary teams, where sharing knowledge and learning from one another leads to more innovative solutions. Engaging with diverse perspectives is, to me, an essential part of building ground-breaking technologies.
