Joined at the launch of the Italian branch and built the local regulatory and governance framework from scratch, supporting the branch authorization and operational set-up. Responsible for licensing, authorization processes and ongoing supervisory engagement with Regulators, including regulatory filings and reporting obligations. Advised the Italian CEO and senior management on EU and local requirements, driving implementation and assessing operational impact. Core scope included regulatory horizon scanning, market transparency and disclosure requirements, conduct rules, distribution, AML, financial crime, conflict of interest, whistleblowing and product governance, as well as design and implementation of compliance policies and frameworks at local and Group level. Provided regulatory advisory to Group entities on initiatives targeting the Italian market, supporting structuring and interpretation of applicable local requirements for market entry considerations. Additional responsibilities included drafting and negotiation of contracts and distribution agreements, governance reporting to board committees and corporate bodies, complaints handling and delivering compliance training.

Supported UWs on policy wordings, including drafting and reviewing clauses, reinsurance agreement, offering guidance on the development of new insurance products. Advised local senior management on legal and regulatory matters, providing strategic legal guidance to business functions, and maintaining effective liaison with internal stakeholders across Group entities. Drafted and negotiated legal documents such as NDAs, Lender Endorsements, distribution agreements with agents, brokers, other commercial contracts with external vendors. Drafted PoAs and coordinated related international activities. Provided compliance support by ensuring adherence to local regulatory framework, dealing with Italian and San Marino Regulators, drafting local procedures and policies, complaints handling, horizon scanning on emerging insurance and financial services law, drafting reports to Home Office; Set up the local Model pursuant to D.Lgs. n. 231/2001 and participation in the Supervisory Committee (Organismo di Vigilanza). Delivered trainings on legal and compliance matters.

Focused on Insurance and International commercial disputes, assisting leading Italian and foreign companies on insurance and cross-border commercial litigation. Extra-judicial activities such as drafting of legal opinions and advising clients on regulatory matters.

Traineeship on EU Law (Brussels), dealt with International Trade Law, Competition and Commercial litigation before the European Court of Justice. Attended several meetings at the European Commission.
