A data driven IT professional with over 30 years experience.
Over the past 2 years I have implemented a shift from my data-warehousing career to blockchain development, doing courses on solidity and hyperledger, next to extending experience with AWS.
Most of my career has been data centric. This includes many roles like: information analyst; data modeller, datawarehouse specialist, team lead, test analyst, architect and more. As most IT professionals I am always looking for opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, so I have worked on ETL automation and ETL test automation since 2006.
Always looking for the context of any given task as every task should be bringing business value. Having experience in several countries and in a few different organisations has made me quite culture aware. One quote I like specifically: Culture eats strategy for breakfast. And I have seen this happen a few times.
Through the years I have also experienced the difficulty in balancing the need to deliver quickly against the need to deliver a maintainable solution. A quote of my own: Few things are as permanent as temporary solutions! Having experienced the noose around a companies neck when not striking the right balance, I can tell first hand: it is not nice.
Being around in the field for this long has gained me a lot of experience in both Waterfall and Agile SDLC and much insights in project management.
Working remote has been part of my professional life since 2010.
I am a lifelong learner and I am convinced that learning new things helps in keeping your mind young. I have always had a positive mindset, thinking in opportunities rather than obstacles.
