Cryptographer

Originating from California, I embarked on my professional journey at an early age of five, primarily with the Linux Kernel. Spanning over two decades, I have gained extensive experience from prestigious organizations such as Oculus Rift and Amazon Alexa, as well as progressive startups like Gravitl, Karat, and Entropy. My specialization extends across both closed and open-source industries, beginning with my early exposure to the open-source community through projects like RuneLite and SoulSplit. I have also excelled in designing embedded systems for medical-grade EEG manufacturers and developing tools for mind studies for the neuroscience department at UCSB. In the cryptocurrency arena, I have made substantial contributions to Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Ethereum, and managed one of Washington's largest crypto mines for several years. At present, I am part of the trailblazing team at Entropy, which recently secured funding of twenty-five million dollars. We are currently developing advanced threshold cryptography systems for decentralized asset custody on the blockchain. My international presence is further fortified by my bare metal colocation at nearly all Tier 1 Internet Exchange points globally. This, combined with my unique industry connections and insights into the cyber landscape, distinguishes me in the field. My unique perspective and knowledge base, refined over two decades of kernel, crypto, and security work, are highly regarded by executive leaders of U.S. organizations across various sectors.

Experience

Principal Network & Security Engineer
Netmaker (YC W22)
2022 - 2022
I successfully implemented the transformation for key pairs on curve25519 from their Montgomery form to their corresponding birational equivalence in Edwards form. In collaboration with esteemed colleague, Jason A. Donenfeld, the creator of WireGuard, and head of security on the Linux Kernel, we effectively bridged the gap between Gravitl's project netmaker and WireGuard. Despite my geographical location in Costa Rica during this period, I ensured the seamless execution and completion of my responsibilities.
Software Engineer
Recurse Center
2021 - 2022
I worked on lofi, an end-to-end authenticated and encrypted file sharing application for the command line during my time studying at the Recurse Center.
Software Engineer (L5) - Alexa
Amazon
2020 - 2021
I have had the privilege of contributing to the development of backend services for Amazon's Alexa, specifically focusing on enhancing lookup speeds within the Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) that constitutes Alexa's micro-services backend. Additionally, I have successfully executed the implementation of Transport Layer Security (TLS) negotiation/termination within Amazon's proprietary version of BouncyCastleCrypto.
Oculus Start Developer
Oculus VR
2018 - 2019
Worked on the Unreal Engine 4 Oculus Rift SDK. Spoke on panels at Oculus Connect 3 & 4.
Co-Founder
SR Labs
2015 - 2020
As a Co-Founder of SR Labs, I successfully established the startup with a business partner, securing partnerships with a diverse range of clients including UCSB, Epic Games/Oculus Rift, and others. One of my key roles was to directly liaise with PCB manufacturers across the United States to ensure that all our hardware was domestically produced. In collaboration with neuroscience researchers at UCSB, I was instrumental in the development of hardware EEGs/EKGs/ECGs and its accompanying software for their research purposes. This partnership extended to working with Oculus Rift and Epic Games, where I contributed to the development of the Oculus Rift SDKs for Unreal Engine 4.
Audio Engineer
Playback Recording Studio
2013 - 2018
Worked as an Audio Engineer with artists such as Depeche Mode and actors such as Jeff Bridges while recording my own electronic/analog music.
Founder
Soulsplit
2006 - 2008
As the founder of the widely recognized OSRS private server, Soul Split, I utilized a leaked version of the original Runescape server code and successfully integrated it with the initial standalone client, which I had previously contributed to reverse engineering.
Software Engineer
Runelite
2004 - 2006
Worked with the founder Adam on the first stand alone Runescape client that later turned into the most popular project, RuneLite.
