Joel Curado is Managing Director of Business Development at CasperLabs, responsible for worldwide business development and partnerships. Joel has over 17 years experience in the technology industry and smart cities vertical having previously worked at Cisco Systems as part their smart city practice and Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration initiative, leading the Smart City vertical for Switzerland. 


Joel is a PhD Candidate in the field of Information Sciences and Technology, researching the applications and implications of decentralized ledger technologies for the enterprise and smart city spaces in the and Logistics/Supply Chain verticals. 


As an Adjunct Professor at ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and IE Business School, Joel teaches and inspires the next generation of digital leaders and innovators. Additionally, Joel is a Fellow at Blockchain & Climate Institute, a Member at the World Economic Forum, and a Co-Chair of the Board of Advisors at IE Business School, contributing to the advancement of emerging technologies for climate and sustainability actions.


Joel is an IE Business School Executive MBA Graduate, an Economist and specialised in Public Policy by the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
