Engineering Manager

Hey there, I'm Alexey, also known as qqrm ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm a Rust Lead with over a decade of experience in backend development, CAD systems, smart contracts, and SORM. I am passionate about managing and mentoring development teams, fostering collaboration, and driving successful project outcomes.

And yeah, lately I've been seriously into agent-based programming: practicing it, loving it, and extracting all the real-world value I can from it. There's so much untapped potential there, and it's wild how much impact it can have when applied thoughtfully.

Currently, I'm focused on sharpening my leadership skills on complex projects. I'm open to Rust collaborations or consulting gigs.

I love sharing knowledge, mentoring, exploring Rust use cases, and advocating for clean, efficient code.
ย Feel free to ask me about transitioning to Rust, performance optimization, or crafting maintainable architectures.

Check out my CV here.

You can reach me on Telegram or by email.

Iโ€™m also into distributed systems, cryptography, and building secure, scalable apps. Beyond coding, I'm a cinema buff (2,300+ movies, 400+ series logged on Kinopoisk), write poetry, play ukulele and guitar, go hiking, and enjoy sweet cider. Plus, I collect keyboard smartphones and vinyl records.

Experience

Engineering Manager
Inline Group
2023 - 2026
Led backend, DevOps, and QA delivery for migrating an Oracle/SAP-based procurement platform from monolith to Rust microservices. Led a team scope of about 25-30 people, with about 12 direct backend reports; DevOps and QA were managed via team leads, and frontend work was coordinated through APIs. Delivered about 20 services across domain and platform utilities such as logging, email, and shared components. Designed per-service databases with PostgreSQL, Redis caching, RabbitMQ async integration, and forward-only schema migrations. Built GitLab CI/CD with GitOps, reproducible builds, release tagging, and rollback practices; supported daily deployments across dev, stage, and release stands. Expanded QA automation and API regression coverage; reduced the test pipeline from about 30 minutes to about 5-7 minutes via parallelization and test isolation. Implemented compliance-ready delivery with regulated Linux distributions, a private artifact registry with pinned approvals, dependency scanning (cargo-audit) as a CI gate, and customer security reviews. Defined SLI/SLO targets, MTTR tracking, and error-budget practices when services stabilized, prioritizing delivery reliability and security. Stack: Rust, Actix Web, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, Odoo, Grafana, Sentry, Swagger, Telegram Bot API, Mattermost, Clippy, cargo-audit, SonarQube.
