Bachelor Graduate In Telecomunications

Im a Masters student in Cybersecurity at EPFL and ETH Zürich, with a BSc in Telecommunications, Internet and Multimedia Engineering from the University of Padua (110/110 cum laude) and an Erasmus+ semester at Trinity College Dublin.

My bachelors thesis explored a new attack on quantum key distribution. I studied how an adversary can inject optical power into a fiber to thermally disrupt phase-sensitive QKD links, and built a physical model and simulation showing which attack waveforms actually get through. It is, to our knowledge, the first physical-channel denial-of-service attack on phase-sensitive DV protocols, and Im now co-authoring a paper on it.

I also enjoy hands-on security: exploiting known CVEs with Metasploit, building IDS labs with Snort3 and Kathara (including detecting a TCP ISN covert channel), deploying VPNs with OpenVPN and Docker, and playing CTFs with polygl0ts, EPFLs team.

Interests: network security, hardware security, applied and quantum cryptography. Looking for summer internship  2027. Italian (native), English (advanced)

Bachelor's thesis on thermal phase injection attacks against quantum key distribution. I modeled how out-of-band optical power injected into fiber induces differential phase shifts across time-multiplexed QKD pulses, and built a Python simulation of the attack (phase shift → QBER, Bode analysis, feasibility heatmaps). I showed that step-function injection is ~2,300× more effective than sinusoidal modulation, which the fiber's thermal response suppresses by ~44 dB. To our knowledge, this is the first physical-channel DoS attack on phase-sensitive DV-QKD. Supervised by Prof. Mauro Conti and Prof. Simone Soderi; paper in preparation.
