Ph D Fulbrighter (Blockchain Ai)
As a computer scientist at ICIC CONICET, I have developed groundbreaking symbolic logic theories for designing and implementing automatic reasoning algorithms. These algorithms are particularly focused on dynamic inconsistency-tolerant environments, such as general argumentation systems and those more specific found in legal reasoning systems. By leveraging natural language processing outputs, these algorithms enable the recognition of minimal reasoning steps allowing the inner cohesion and the interrelation of arguments, thus facilitating neuro-symbolic semi-automatic reasoning: a flexible and explainable AI where decisions are fully justified. The resulting insights serve as specialized tools for guiding software inquiries, supervising and recommending professional practices, or predicting potential issues in dynamic environments.
In 2024, I assisted to EthCC (Brussels) and DevCon (Bangkok), further expanding my knowledge on blockchain technologies and taking advantage of the opportunity to discuss my research on neuro-symbolic AI applied to dispute resolution on blockchain. Throughout my career, I have consistently pushed the boundaries of AI and law, and more recently I transitioned the focus to its application to DAOs and blockchain dapps. Since December 2023, I have been working as a full-stack developer at Kleros, a decentralized protocol for dispute resolution. There, I developed and launched Proof of Humanity v2 (PoHv2), a decentralized sybil-resistant registry of humans. Additionally, I'm contributing to the integration of AI into Kleros' dispute resolution protocol and supervising postgraduate students applying legal theories to the Kleros protocol. My responsibilities in PoHv2 encompass front-end, subgraph, and smart contract development (including cross-chain features), and DAO configuration to facilitate cross-chain governance-related tasks, like configuring voting proposals and triggering encoded txs from a Snapshot space on mainnet to be bridged automatically throughout Gnosis safe accounts via Safesnap modules into foreign chains to govern deployed contracts. In 2023, I licensed my position as scientific researcher and began to concentrate full time in developing web3 dapps and Solidity smart contracts. A personal web3 project (see repository or try it) has served me to attract Kleros’ attention and be hired afterwards.
Beyond my academic pursuits, I’ve been largely/actively engaged in side software projects. In 2020, parallel to my duties at CONICET, I co-founded Quasar, leading a team in developing an ERP system for legal case management. This venture allowed me to hone my full-stack React/NodeJS/Python development skills. Prior to this, I held a full-stack position in late 2018, designing and developing the backoffice and data management of Legal Doctor, a software for law firm assistance.
Academically, from 2019 to 2022, I was head teaching assistant for algorithmic analysis and complexity courses at UNS. In 2019, I established JuriSIA, a multidisciplinary research group exploring AI and Law at ICIC (Institute for CS and Eng. - CONICET). In 2017 I was granted a postdoc Fulbright scholarship to visit University of Pittsburgh and Hofstra University for novel research on AI and law. Over the past decade, I have extensively developed techniques to formalize legal argumentation in criminal processes (see IEEE). I’ve been speaker at recognized AI conferences like AAAI and IJCAI, and published over 37 scientific papers. To deepen my understanding of normative reasoning, I pursued a Master's degree in law focussed on legal reasoning at UNS.
