Junior Backend Developer

I recently graduated with a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Pisa, specializing in ICT Solutions Architecture, with a strong passion for Software Engineering, Backend Development, and the design of scalable, reliable, and secure software architectures.

Throughout my academic journey, I developed a solid foundation in the design and development of complex software systems, with a particular focus on:

  • Software Development: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, concurrent programming, software design principles, and relational database management.
  • Cloud Software Engineering & DevOps: Microservices architectures, Docker, Docker Compose, CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, and Agile methodologies.
  • Scalable & Distributed Systems: Distributed architectures, replication, consistency models, consensus algorithms, and technologies such as Apache Kafka and Apache Spark.
  • Parallel & High-Performance Computing: Parallel and concurrent programming using OpenMP, MPI, and CUDA, with a focus on performance optimization.
  • Blockchain & Distributed Ledger Technologies: Smart contract development in Solidity, Ethereum, DAOs, and decentralized identity systems.

I also gained professional experience as a Junior Backend Developer at Benefind S.r.l., contributing to the development of a Java application using Spring Boot, Spring Batch, PostgreSQL, Spring Data JPA, and REST APIs.

I am particularly interested not only in understanding how individual software components work, but also in how they can be designed and integrated into complex architectures, balancing code quality, performance, security, and maintainability.

My goal is to grow professionally as a Software Engineer, strengthening my expertise in backend development and distributed systems design, with the long-term ambition of progressing into Software Architect and Solution Architect roles.

Master Thesis: An SSI based Governance Model for Decentralized Autonomous Organizations
University of Pisa
2026 - 2026
he thesis focuses on DAOs, decentralized organizations governed through smart contracts deployed on the Ethereum blockchain. After studying the state of the art, our objective was to assign each member of the organization voting power based not only on the invested capital, represented by the fungible ERC20Votes tokens they hold, but also on the skills the member possesses regarding the topic of the vote. The signing, issuance, and on-chain verification of the Verifiable Credentials (VCs) certifying members skills follow the Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) model, a decentralized identity management model in which users themselves maintain control over their digital identities in a decentralized manner, in our case, their skills. We therefore have a trusted Issuer, who certifies and digitally signs, using their private key, a VC attesting to the members skills. The VC is issued to the member, who acts as the Holder, and when they want to prove their skills, they present it to the DAO, which acts as the Verifier. During the on-chain verification process, the DAO, following the EIP-712 standard, reconstructs the credentials digest and passes the digest and the VCs digital signature as inputs to an ECDSA.recover() operation. If the credential has not been tampered with, the operation recovers the public key associated with the issuers DID, from which the Ethereum address can be derived. The system then checks whether this address is included in an on-chain list of issuers considered trusted by the DAO. If so, the members skills and the skill-based voting power(VP) are updated. Historical skill-based VP is maintained through checkpoints, which, similarly to the structures maintained by ERC20Votes, preserve each users skill-based VP for each voting topic at a given timepoint. The same skill contributes differently to voting power depending on its relevance to the voting topic. Each users VP is retrieved through a snapshot taken at the beginning of the voting period, at the end of the voting delay. We optimized the representation of members skills using a bitmap, which allows us to store all of a members skills in a single integer, thereby reducing gas costs associated with on-chain storage. To implement the solution, we used the Ethereum blockchain, Solidity, and the OpenZeppelin and Veramo frameworks. We also performed a security analysis, examining the main threats addressed by the system and the principal privacy risks associated with on-chain representation.
