Fundamental Computing Concepts (MSc. in Data Science and Analytics), Spring 2024.

Conducted research and analysis on DeFi product designs, covering carbon credit platforms, crypto-collateralized fiat lending, DeFi lending, real-world asset (RWA) protocols, and tokenized private credit solutions. Planned, researched, wrote, and edited EMURGO Africa’s quarterly and annual reports (https://www.emurgo.africa/blog/tags/report), analyzing trends in tokenized projects, role of blockchain in financial inclusion, decentralized identity (DID) adoption in Africa, and EMURGO Africa’s contributions to carbon offset trade, lending, and crypto on/off-ramping.

Collaborated with Marsabit county government and researchers from PAU, Egerton University, and Strathmore University on a research project exploring the impact of digital ID-linked decision-making on cooperative groups (Chamas) in Kenya. Applied for the Abdul Jameel Poverty Action Lab’s DigiFI Africa fund to support the project, aiming to develop pilot studies that could inform policy and governance strategies.

Wrote investment reports for 40+ start-up companies EMURGO Africa invested in with its $100M investment fund. Conducted research on the Cardano blockchain and its strategic expansion in African countries. The strategy report covered the blockchain landscape in Africa, including socio-economic factors, crypto adoption, blockchain projects, major network activities (Binance, Stellar, Algorand, Celo, NEAR, Polygon), government initiatives, and Web3 venture funding. Product-related research focused on RealFi (the fusion of DeFi and traditional finance) and decentralized identity solutions (Atala Prism). My analysis on the potential of the Cardano blockchain was featured in Blockchain Biz on Medium (you can read the series of articles from https://medium.com/blockchain-biz/ch-4-1-cardano-potential-631b3d0bed03).

Built a peer-to-peer Defi insurance protocol. Developed partnership with 27 vulnerable communities in 14 low-income countries with 7 local NGOs in Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, South Sudan, Mozambique, Uganda, India, and Burundi.
