Blockchain Data Scientist
Following a data processing focused PhD in seismology, I went on to work as a data scientist at an information provider for crypto assets. The majority of my work was utilizing the blockchain data to track the usage and financial metrics (fees, revenue, tvl) of Ethereum protocols. Naturally, a prerequisite for this task was an in-depth understanding of major DeFi protocols. The assignment was very rewarding as it provided a strong foundation for estimating the risks when seeking higher yields on crypto assets. It also revealed several areas in DeFi that could benefit from extra liquidity.
On a personal level, a surprising benefit of this position was seeing how some cryptocurrencies and protocols provide very legitimate financial services and have a positive effect on the net worth of its user base. Over several years, I got to watch protocols, the ones I believed benefited their users, grow in both TVL and market capitalization. Iām looking forward to finding the next opportunity to support new blockchains or protocols and have a positive influence on the global DeFi community.
