Senior Technical Writer

I believe my skills, experience, and enthusiasm make me an ideal candidate for the open technical writer position at your company. My experience in the field of Technical Communication is that of a well-rounded technical communicator and UX specialist. My effective project management skills enable me to complete multiple projects concurrently and lend guidance to others when needed. With skills rooted in intelligent content, minimalism, and DITA, I have created effective—semantically-aware content that is clear and concise. I have used this structured, modular content to create regular online and print documentation and product-integrated content systems, which I designed and prototyped. These product-integrated content systems not only provide pertinent information at the user’s point of need, but also complement the product UI. This is achieved by extending the product UI to provide precise workflow information on demand.

Appreciating the dynamics of blockchain and Web3 technologies, I recognized how AI/chatbots could be used at Consensys Software to disseminate API user guidance more effectively. In my presentation on this belief, I laid out how an information architecture based in intelligent content could increase the efficiency of the chatbot engine and produce highly effective, precision content.

At Hewlett Packard Enterprise – ArcSight, I combined my information strategy and UX skills to create precision content that is structured for high adaptability and accessibility—meeting users at their various points of need. This writing approach yielded information that functioned well as product-integrated content—while still accommodating more traditional forms of documentation. The new ArcSight DNS Malware Analytics (DMA) and ArcSight Investigate products are two examples where I used this information strategy and progressive writing approach.

Similarly, at Trend Micro, I created structured, modular content for web-security products and cloud-based, data-protection products. I also designed and prototyped the UIs for product-integrated content systems. In this capacity, I often edited and created verbiage for product UIs and suggested UI changes when I felt they were needed. With most development and QA in Asia, I proficiently gathered source and conducted reviews with foreign-based engineers.

During the third quarter of 2012, Trend Micro recognized how my writing style improved the SecureCloud documentation and UX, and therefore rewarded me the Engineer of the Quarter Award.

At Oracle, I documented complex Internet technologies for JDBC and CRM products. For most of the CRM projects, I used a DITA-based tool to streamline the writing effort. The Oracle writing process required my involvement in the product review process, from which I gained firsthand source knowledge and was able to provide timely feedback for product improvement.

At ADP and Amdahl, I used efficient costing and project management skills to aggressively complete projects during reduced development cycles. For instance, at ADP I created the user guide for PenPro 1.1 in about three months—three months less than what was originally planned. For my effort, I received the ADP Constellation Award.

Also at ADP, my interest in UI design combined with the product QA work that I often did while creating documentation earned me the additional position of usability engineer. In partnership with a consultant, I designed most of the proposed global UI for PenPro 3.0 and the product-integrated content UI for this application.

These are just a few of my noteworthy accomplishments and a suggestion of the contributions I am prepared to make at your company. If my background seems valuable to you, then feel free to call me at (408) 759-3547 or email me at [email protected] to arrange an interview. I appreciate you examining my qualifications and hope to hear from you soon.
