Lead Manufacturing Engineer for R&D in Belfast, responsible for developing the production environment and manufacturing processes of new products. Also responsible for Project Leading PPAP with suppliers, ensuring their manufacturing processes meet the demanding quality requirements of the Medical Device Industry. Roles & responsibilities: Manufacturing Engineering Role: • Design/develop assembly manufacturing line for mass production using single-piece-flow. • Drive and team lead on all Lean Projects regarding manufacturing of the new R&D product. • Lead all training activities with operators and stakeholders. • Lead all development builds carried out by operators and present findings to the R&D Department. • Creation of complex Process Flows / Value Stream Maps, and subsequently working with the ERP provider on integration. • Validation Project Owner for assigned projects in ValGenesis software. Project Engineering Role: • Lead and Project Manage all PPAP & Validation Activities with suppliers worldwide on a weekly basis. • Project Stages typically involve; Process Development, Characterisation, & Validation Readiness / Execution. • Create project plans using Microsoft Project and analyse supplier Capability or Gage R&R data in Minitab. • Requires great interpersonal skills to effectively communicate requirements & aid suppliers in meeting deliverables.

Continuous Improvement Engineer, followed by promotion to Assistant Production Manager for the CNC machine shop. Roles & responsibilities: • Production scheduling across 10 CNC machines to ensure JIT arrival of parts for assembly processes, spares orders and stores stock levels. • ERP champion for the company, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing processes / standard operating procedures for increased system efficiency and utilisation. • Project lead to redesign (using DraftSight) and restructure the company’s stores layout and workflow / material flow. • CNC programming of production parts (using EdgeCam), followed by prove out on the machine with the operator. • Introduction of server to ensure efficient storage of programs and to reduce setup times on CNC machines. • Introduction of OEE software for the machine shop to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement. • Initial phases & discussions in robotic adoption for machine tending - business case developed and approved. • Identification and implementing solutions for the company’s vast stock holding, aiming to ensure the variables are reduced whilst high usage stock is increased. Involved in depth report creation for data analysis. • Facilitating the setup of a new manufacturing line with assembly operations aligning with product BOM’s. Also involves the assessment of current production, identifying bottlenecks, workflow and DFMA improvements. • Creation of advanced reports (Microsoft Excel) for sales, production & KPI’s, which functioned & updated automatically. • Identification of business development opportunities, such as leading the company to become the first in it’s industry with certification for SSD / hard drive destruction to certain security levels.

• Contributed to the Covid-19 ‘Randox Discovery’ project, an analyser for molecular and immunoassay testing. • Created work instructions, improved build processes, designed jigs, and set up workstations using Kaizen methodology.

• 1 year placement in the project management team for change management / NPD, running high level engineering projects whilst working with multidisciplinary teams and external customers such as Daimler Mercedes. • Required pristine interpersonal and task management skills to proceed through the gating and PPAP process. • Awarded an ILM Leadership Award & conducted a 3-month STEM project in a local primary school.
