Hello, My name is Aliyu Abubakar. I’m a software engineer with 4-5 years of experience building web applications. I’m activity involved in the tech community space. 

I’ve managed Google Developers Students Club in my campus and currently I’m managing Google Developers Group Bida, Open Source Community Africa Minna and JavaScript Nigeria. These communities were built from scratch with the help of core team members and the community members. With these communities, i’ve hosted meet-ups, code sessions, hackathons and conferences. 

I’m currently a co organizer for DevFest (Developer Festival) Abuja. Devfest Abuja is an annual global developer conference held in GDG established communities suppported by Google. I joined DevFest Abuja team in 2018 and we’ve held 4 conferences in 5 years.  

DevFest brings together all kinds of people in the tech world to learn, share and grow. Through DevFest Abuja, community members have gotten jobs, internships, mentorship and opportunities. 

Within the space of organising conferences and managing communities, i’ve worked with Google Community Manager for Sub Saharan Africa, Aneido and Google Community Developer Relations, Auwal MS and Ada Oyom and the likes. 

I’ve also worked with Sendchamp as a Developer Community Manager where i served as bridge between the community and the product. I was able to grow the community from 271 members to 900 members within a year, this community is on telegram. And recently, started moving the community to slack with about 100 members joined already.
