Initially brought on as a freelance DevOps Consultant to assess and refactor cloud infrastructure for Human Passport, a decentralized identity crypto project, I transitioned into a full-time role as full stack engineer. My work focused on improving scalability, security, cost-efficiency, and developer workflows while maintaining high system reliability in a Web3 environment. Key Contributions: - Cloud Infrastructure & IaC: Audited and re-architected AWS infrastructure using Pulumi. Resulting in a more clear infrastructure, easier to maintain & updated. Also providing a consistency between provisioned environments - Scalability, Reliability & Cost Optimisation: Led a full region-to region migration with minimal downtime which helped reduce regional traffic costs & improved the network security. Migrated relevant services from ECS to AWS Lambda, increasing elasticity during traffic spikes and reducing costs. - Security: Implemented the principle of least privilege across AWS, restrict network access, and introduced automated WAF custom rules to protect against malicious traffic; preventing the application to become unresponsive or scale out causing costs due to malicious traffic. - Monitoring & Incident Management: Enhanced observability through logging, metrics, and alerting. Enabling the engineering team to easily spot issues in production (that require manual intervention), recently introduced bugs or bad integrations. Also participated in on-call rotations and led incident response. - CI/CD: Refactored GitHub Actions pipelines to use modular and reusable workflows to allow faster and secure deployments. Enabling engineering team to easily, fast and safely release a hot fix to production if required, while also preventing bad / human mistake releases. - Feature Development: contributed to product development, handling both API and UI tasks. Contributed to the design and implementation of a cloud-agnostic Kubernetes platform (initially on AWS), empowering development teams and improving infrastructure reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Played a key role in enabling a smooth migration from ECS to Kubernetes, standardizing deployment practices, and aligning infrastructure with the security compliance. Key Contributions: - Standardised and Automated Infrastructure: Provisioned reproducible Kubernetes clusters for dev, UAT, and production using Terraform and workspaces, ensuring consistency trough all environments. - Improved Developer Autonomy: Deployed and configured Devtron to give developers real-time visibility and control over application deployments, reducing reliance on the DevOps team while maintaining security and compliance standards. - Streamlined Application Deployment: Developed reusable Helm charts to simplify and standardize application rollout, reducing onboarding time for new services and minimising human error in production releases. - Facilitated ECS to Kubernetes Migration: Closely collaborated with development team to support the transition to Kubernetes. - Enhanced Reliability and Reduced Bugs: Ensured all infrastructure was defined as code, allowing for version-controlled, auditable, and fully reproducible environments, which also represented a first approach to a disaster recovery plan.
