Legal Expert
Managing Director | Consultant
I spent six years as a candidate attorney and tax practitioner in South Africa working at a boutique tax and commercial law firm. In 2016, I moved to the Isle of Man, where I have gained extensive experience in corporate services providers, family offices, fintech, and Web3 businesses. Over the last decade, I have evolved into a strategic leader and advisor with 15+ years’ multi-jurisdictional experience across law, fintech, and Web3. I possess an entrepreneurial spirit with global regulatory expertise and proven commercial acumen.
I have a strong academic and practical foundation across several disciplines, which allows me to quickly turn my hand to new ideas, concepts, or tasks. I am also always looking to grow my own knowledge and expertise through continuous learning and development, both professionally and personally.
Personally, I am easy-going. I enjoy reading, paddleboarding, surfing, and spending time outdoors. I own several motorcycles, am about to start clay pigeon shooting, and am signed up to run a marathon this year. I like new things and enjoy challenges. I work hard, I am tenacious, and I am constantly striving to be the best version of myself that I can be.
What Makes Me Stand Out: Tenacity, Empathy, and Extreme Agency While I had initially trained as a legal professional, my defining moment of leadership (and my proudest work experience) wasn’t in a courtroom or a boardroom—it was on a disaster-stricken island in the Caribbean. In 2017, I was sent alone to St. Barthélemy immediately following Hurricane Irma to restore a luxury rental business, the primary asset of which—a $60,000,000 rental villa—had been largely destroyed.
Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone I arrived on a French-speaking island where basic services like water and electricity were not yet restored. This was a situation entirely outside my normal scope of reference that required me to grasp complex local logistics, French administration, and large-scale building operations.
Leading with Empathy and Drive The real challenge was not the infrastructure, but the people. I had to rally a crew of over 60 French- and Portuguese-speaking contractors whose own homes and lives had been devastated by the hurricane. By leading with empathy for their personal situations while maintaining a relentless drive for the project, I built a bond of trust that enabled us to work under extreme time pressures and in difficult conditions. I led by example, did the work where I could, and made sure that everyone was looked after and supported where they needed it most.
Getting Hands Dirty & Exceeding Expectations I took total control of the operation, getting my hands dirty in everything from clearing out rubble and negotiating insurance claims to managing daily on-site reconstruction and marketing.
The Expectation: Restoration was estimated to take 2 years.
The Result: We were operational in just 6 months after securing a multimillion-dollar insurance payout within 2 months, which was unheard of on the island.
The Impact: I generated over $1,000,000 in turnover in the first year while similar properties were still under construction and went on to generate three times as much the following year.
The Takeaway: This experience solidified my belief that you must be willing to lead by example, roll up your sleeves and get in the trenches. Action breeds action.
What This Means for My Next Role
This experience defines my approach to leadership. I have the proven ability to:
Navigate Chaos: Walk into any high-pressure, low-information environment and quickly build a path to success.
Rally Diverse Teams: Lead with a balance of empathy and authority to achieve collective goals, even in a crisis.
Operate with High Agency: I do not wait for a manual; I take ownership of the outcome and exceed expectations through sheer tenacity.
I bring this same dynamic energy and human-centric leadership, ensuring that every project I touch is backed by a leader who knows how to win when the stakes are highest.
