Evaluated SmolDocling and TrOCR on handwritten prescription samples against their digital-document baselines to assess feasibility, since no labeled handwritten prescription data existed in-house. Fine-tuned TrOCR on handwritten data to improve recognition performance over the pretrained baseline. Designed a two-stage OCR pipeline using PaddleOCR for line-level text detection followed by the fine-tuned TrOCR model for line-wise handwriting recognition.
