As part of the Mastercard Payment & Security Risk Team, we curate and deliver high quality data to a multitude of products. This allows our customers to perform data-driven decision making related to assessing the risk of virtual asset service providers.
Job Title
Manager, Blockchain Research
Role
As a Blockchain Research Manager, you will leverage your specialized technical and functional experience, coupled with your attention to detail, to develop insights, recommendations, and reports. This will provide the actionable information, data, and context required by the organization and our clients. Your strong analytical skills and problem-solving mindset will be pivotal in identifying opportunities to enhance our products and improve overall attribution on the blockchain.
You will be responsible for crafting deep intelligence insights by exploring new data sources, constructing effective queries, and merging information from diverse sources. This includes intelligence reporting, open-source information, regulatory filings, legal affidavits, blockchain transactional data, and blockchain tracing, among others. It's crucial that you validate this information to support evidentiary and analytical stands, as well as author assessments for organizational consideration.
As a recognized subject matter expert, your methodologies and findings will be instrumental in the attribution investigatory processes. Your expertise will be sought for time-sensitive recommendations, briefings, and in sharing methodologies with wider teams. It will be your responsibility to ensure that external teams and clients receive top-tier support based on your findings.
All About You

• Participate in cutting-edge crypto economic research, attribution design

and analysis.

• Ability to uncover unique actionable insights contributing to the data

platform and broader understanding of sanctions/terrorist financing risk in
the blockchain ecosystem.

• Monitor OFAC & OFSI sanctions lists to correlate data to product.
• Ability to quickly ingest and process current events and their effects on the

crypto economic industry and communicate reporting to executive
leadership

• Play an integral role in fine tuning collection requirements and execution

strategy to maintain data.

• Perform complex research into unique data sets to identify and process

(i.e. Defi Protocols)

• Technical background (i.e. Python, SQL, Excel) to create solutions to

streamline workflows and effectively process large sets of data.

• Ability to collaborate with Product Management & cross functional teams

to establish and deliver use cases specific to research and turn into
implementations.

• Familiarity with cryptocurrency tracing for cluster resolution, identity &

mappings.

• Familiarity with cryptography and distributed systems
• Self-Starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Data Science, Network Science, Statistics,

Applied Mathematics, Economics or a related field willing to also consider
relevant research and or work experience

• You enjoy documentation of processes and establishing story lines, blog

posts, and detailed reports inspired by your research findings.

• Ability to present research findings in a clear & concise manner to

customers, colleagues and executive leadership.

• Experience in contributing to research communities and/or efforts
• Ability to mentor other OSINT research analysts.
• Previous experience & familiarity with Jira
• Ability to think strategically, with a creative mindset to solve complex

problems.

• Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change
