Web3 Global Commodity Manager

About the Team:

As part of the Hardware team, we are responsible for sourcing materials to fuel production of the Orb in times of a global supply chain crisis as well as distributing the Orb worldwide. The supply chain and logistics team plays a critical part in bringing our electronic hardware device to market globally. We work with mechanical and electrical component suppliers, in order to scale a hardware product from prototype to mass production volumes. We are a rapidly growing, highly cross-functional team that strategically partners with every section in every department to create a positive, and unique company brand.

About the Opportunity:

The Global Commodity Manager position presents a unique opportunity to work in both hardware and cryptocurrency. In this role, you will oversee a team of buyers to implement supply chain strategies and strategic sourcing to ensure that supplier(s) are capable of meeting Worldcoin’s current and future technical and business requirements. You will oversee supplier management and logistics methods, processes, and strategies. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Establish and manage long term strategic and core supplier relationships
  • Implement programs for supplier selection, supplier performance management and supply base optimization.
  • Reducing total production costs through negotiation and careful sourcing for quality and cost.
  • Leadership for supplier relationships, contract / SOW negotiations, spend management, and cost reduction associated with this category.
  • Providing neutral recommendations to management, and finalizing/release contract/PO.
  • Overseeing material demand planning, inventory control, and logistics planning for both vendors and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Participating in regular Growth team planning meetings and using demand signals to plan batch production and rebalance material inventory levels as needed.
  • Managing scheduling for order and delivery of parts for prototyping and engineering builds throughout development.
  • Traveling internationally to support engineering and production builds as well as audit suppliers.
  • Auditing potential suppliers.

About You:

  • Masters degree in business administration or (industrial) engineering, or a similar field.
  • Several years of relevant experience in strategic purchasing, ideally on a global scale.
  • Strong IT skills, with proficiency in MS Office and SAP systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of factory operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes specifically, supplier management, cost management, and supply chain.
  • Ability to develop efficient work processes for complex projects involving many players across multiple geographies, and coordinate, implement, and maintain those processes.
  • Knowledge of cost and performance accounting and controls.
  • Ability to work within a team and take a solutions-oriented and analytical approach.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Market and product knowledge.
  • German fluency (written and spoken). English proficiency (written and spoken), fluency preferred.
