Your Mission:

We have ambitious plans to keep growing and are now looking for a data oriented Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). This non conventional job title hides a very simple reality, data are keys in our business, and we are looking for someone to manage tools and services that ingest, store and access this data. It covers a wide spectrum of responsibilities starting from network flows that ingest the data and all the way up to database administration, optimization and tools that access the data 

The Engineering team at SwissBorg operates with a strong DevOps culture, meaning you will be working collaboratively with development and data teams to ensure projects are efficiently developed, integrated and deployed. We believe a healthy work-life balance within our teams will enable everyone to do their best work. However, due to the mission-critical nature of this role, there is a real possibility of a 3 am emergency call if we experience an unexpected outage. As a team, we will do everything to avoid such a situation from happening and plan accordingly for the work.

What you will be doing:

    • Work internally with and support our Data team and get exposure to Data Engineering and Data Science, recommending or implementing emerging database technologies, tools and techniques.
    • Influence and create new designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems.
    • Develop processes and automation for optimizing database security around our customers private and confidential information (e.g. access, secrets, encryption at rest).
    • Solve problems relating to mission-critical services with a focus on using automation to prevent problem recurrence; with the goal of automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions and building better technologies vs. manual resolution
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors, including participating in an on-call rotation and available for on-call support as needed.
    • Discovering new technologies and exploring how we could integrate them into our processes to improve our systems and solve problems.
    • Doing forecasts to ensure the scalability of the system in a hyper-growth environment.

We are looking for the following experience:

    • Proven track record in a DevOps, or SRE role in a cutting-edge SaaS environment.
    • The ability to build, configure, and manage clusters of relational and non-relational databases.
    • The ability to evaluate performance of database systems and propose optimization strategies (caching mechanisms, execution plan optimization)Knowledge and familiarity with Postgres/Aurora is a must.
    • Experience with at least one data warehousing solution (Redshift, Snowflake etc) is a must.
    • Prior experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AnsiblePrior experience with horizontally scalable databases is a plus (CockroachDB, Cassandra, etc).
    • Prior experience with hybrid databases (Druid, Pinot, Clickhouse etc) is a plus
    • Experience in observability and monitoring of applications, services, and networks, using tools such as Prometheus/Grafana and ELK logging is a plus
    • Experience with site reliability, developer productivity, devops, or server infrastructure engineering (including on-call incident response) is a plus
    • Knowledge of Python, infrastructure-as-code, GitOps, CI/CD, Airflow is a plusHigh level of autonomy, discipline, and willingness to learnAbility to work collaboratively with a cross-cultural team
    • Ability to express your ideas clearly, mostly written, and defend them if need beCuriosity and interest in fintech and the cryptocurrency spaceExperience to work remotely or with remote teams
