China today is a key driver of the world economy and playing an
increasingly more prominent role on the international stage. Its thriving tech
industry, in particular in domains such as AI, facial recognition, smart cities
and blockchain, is booming. The country
has definitely shifted its strategy from “made in China” to “invented” in
China. In the meantime, and despite the growing numbers of news about the
middle kingdom, very few European companies understand China, its culture, the
opportunities and challenges the country has to offer. In this context, to
support our team, and therefore our clients, we are currently seeking freelancers
with expertise on Mainland China.
Tasks
The freelancers for the Asian region will assist us
in:
· Conducting researches and assessments on issues related
to the geopolitical context (ex: impact of the US-China competition on European
enterprises; assessment of the belt and road initiative, tensions in the South
and East-China Sea and possible scenarios; China – India relations);
· Gathering information on current economic,
technological and geopolitical trends in China, Hong-Kong, Taiwan using
official publications, social media post and news platforms in Mandarin
Chinese;
· Provides timely analysis according to customers’ need.
Requirements
Minimum
education and experience requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of
working experiences. 8 years of relevant working experience might be considered
instead.
Essential Skills/The
ideal candidate should have:
· Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (minimum requirement: HSK 5)
· Demonstrate knowledge of China: its system and its social,
economic/financial and technological or defense policies
· Knowledge of the Chinese Internet and app ecosystem
· Demonstrate ability to conduct research
· Ability to work remotely and without direct
supervision
· Ability to work well under pressure and to meet tight
deadlines
· Familiarity with standard softwares
· Outstanding communication skills
· Excellent proofreading and editing skills
· Ability to travel occasionally in Asia and Europe
Preferred
Qualifications/experiences
· Mandarin Chinese as mother tong
· Experience in working with government entities, as
journalist or as business analyst;
· Being based in Asia will be considered an asset.
