About Consensus and $DESK
Curated and produced by CoinDesk, Consensus is the most influential crypto & blockchain experience of the year. Held since 2015, Consensus is the only festival showcasing and celebrating all sides of the blockchain, crypto, NFT, and Web 3 ecosystems, and their wide-reaching effect on commerce, culture, and communities.
This year, Consensus will be held in Austin, Texas from June 9-12, and will bring thousands of attendees together to hear from sought-after thought leaders and experience a wide range of discussions, meetings, parties, music performances, dinners, experiences, and much more.
The $DESK token is the social token of Consensus, offering real rewards for engagement with many aspects of the Festival, both on the ground and virtually. $DESK can be earned through normal conference activities, and can be spent on food, drinks, merch, and much more. The goal of $DESK is to activate audience engagement with our events, content, and social channels, and create a feedback loop that deepens our collective commitment to building a crypto-ecosystem together.
The Position:
We are seeking a dynamic Operational Manager to serve as both an externally and internally focused partner to create and maintain success across this Web3 social token project.
The $DESK Operational Manager is a project-based role that runs through the Consensus 2022 event, June 9-12 in Austin, Texas. This role is responsible for the implementation and execution of the $DESK program.
The $DESK Operational Manager will:
- Work with internal teams to develop an overall system map of onsite/physical trigger locations (QR codes, links, quests etc). EG in session rooms, exhibitor booths, etc
- Work with internal teams to develop mechanics for $DESK redemptions and payments with core vendors (EG with ACC/Levy, Merch, Hilton, Fairmont).
- Onboard and oversee core vendors/businesses who will accept $DESK, pre-event thru onsite and settlement
- Work with internal teams and external partners to execute lightweight programs for select local austin businesses (similar to core vendors)
- Manage creation and placement of onsite/physical triggers (QR codes) in all locations
- Oversee testing and on-site QC before and during event
- Coordinate & Manage any physical onsite Airdrops with event teams and comms team
- Manage allocations, redemptions and prizes on the ground (EG if someone uses $DESK to win a lunch w a speaker)
- Work with internal Account Managers to onboard exhibitors and partners on how to us $DESK QR codes
- Manage a team of event staff to support these initiatives, and help hire people to this team.
- Manage the physical onsite helpdesk in case of any issues, in coordination with the Customer Experience Manager
- Troubleshoot onsite issues as they arise - w triggers, vendors, drops etc. And elevate issues to the customer experience manager
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience working in event, marketing, or project management
- Familiarity with crypto / web3 / social tokens / Metamask / Airdrops / etc
- Proven success of owning and managing projects of all sizes
- Familiarity with vendor payments and/or POS systems a plus
- Ability to think outside the box and drive opportunity through creative solutions with clients and vendors
- Detail oriented and operationally minded.
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, and have a proactive approach to executing deliverables
- Ability to handle short-term and long-term goals for various projects on deadline in a fast-paced, news-driven organization
- Must play well with others
- Customer service background a plus
- Great communication skills, verbal and written
- Able to travel and work on-site at Consensus 2022, in Austin, Texas, June 8-13
- Compliant with Texas’ COVID measures for working on-site
