Our story:

Our story began when our founding team launched a mobile cryptocurrency exchange product in late 2017 called Coinance. After three months of operations and acquiring over 10,000 users, Coinance was pulled from the AppStore for not properly identifying its users in compliance with KYC (know your customer) regulations. During the search for a solution, the founders became convinced that there was a large opportunity to build an identity verification tool that was easy for engineering teams to integrate and empowered end-users with privacy and security. Fast-forward three years, and the team has raised $17.5m in venture financing with several hundred customers building with our identity system. We grew our revenue 8x last year and are now looking to expand our Growth team with an ambitious Developer Marketing Manager!

What we do:

Our goal is to empower the world with a digital identity system that puts you, the individual, first. We give developers a set of tools to integrate into their facial recognition, liveness detection, ID authenticity checks, and ID information extraction, while also baking in privacy protections that allow individual users to control their own identity data - creating a more privacy-centric future.

Who are we looking for:

We’re looking for a Developer Relations Manager to increase awareness of Passbase within technical communities. You will form a rich understanding of our developer audience, and help define and execute Passbase’s outreach and programs for this group. Your goal will be to engage with other developers while championing our product.

The ideal candidate will have first-hand experience in developer relations, or be a developer with a knack for community-building. This is a strategic hire for Passbase and will be the first developer relations role on the team – we’re looking for someone who can build out the function and execute activities now, with potential to scale in the future. This role reports directly into the VP of Growth.

What you'll be doing:

  • Participate and engage with other developers across channels and communities (e.g. forums, meetups, conferences, etc)
  • Educate developers who are working on problems that could benefit from Passbase
  • Lead developer programs and support the Growth team in developer go-to-market
  • Partner with Content Marketing and freelance talent to create technical content
  • Be an advocate for our developer community internally, and use their feedback to influence feature prioritization
  • Develop evangelism of our brand with developers
  • Manage a budget to execute outreach activities. Track community engagement KPIs

Background/experience you should have:

  • You have engineering experience and you are active in developer communities (e.g. stack overflow, github, discord, reddit, meetups, etc)
  • You have strong communication skills and enjoy discussing technical topics
  • You ideally have experience building a successful developer community in the past
  • You have an analytical mindset
  • You know how to surprise and delight developers, e.g. special offers, cool swag, etc
  • Experience building cross-functional relationships internally

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience at a fintech, crypto, identity, or security startup
  • Familiarity with and passion for the crypto / defi industry
