Head of Engineering

SELF ID is looking for a forward-thinking Head of Engineering to lead our highly-skilled software engineering team. This role will oversee all technical aspects and technological resources of the company for the purpose of organizational growth. You will work closely with the founding team to establish the engineering systems, processes, team, and culture necessary to deliver on the vision for SELF.

This is a full-time role reporting to the CEO/interim CTO that can be held anywhere in the world.

What you’ll do at SELF ID:

  • Define and implement technical strategy, direction, and roadmap to align with our business objectives.
  • Lead the technical design and creation of the SELF ID solution.
  • Oversee all system design and changes in system architecture.
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes.
  • Monitor KPIs and tech budgets to assess technological performance.
  • Work closely with Product/Experience, Business Development, and Operations teams to define and deliver new products and enhancements.
  • Make decisions and recommendations on the most complex or ambiguous IT issues.
  • Grow and manage the engineering team, including recruiting, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external IT vendors and consultants.
  • Stay updated with latest blockchain technologies and advancements and align them with business needs.

What Excites Us:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Software Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with blockchain technology is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and business development.
  • Strong knowledge of systems architecture, design, and development.
  • Hands-on experience with complex project management.
  • Proven track record of success in leadership positions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional team management skills.
