Thesis is a cryptocurrency venture studio whose mission is to empower the individual. We seek, fund, and build products and protocols in cryptocurrency and decentralized businesses that enable personal empowerment. Our projects include Keep (now Threshold) Network, a privacy protocol for public blockchains, Fold, for earning Bitcoin on your purchases in the physical and virtual worlds, Saddle, a community owned, open source stablecoin swap protocol, and Tally Ho, a community owned and operated cryptocurrency wallet. Investors in the company include Andreessen Horowitz, Polychain Capital, and Draper Associates, among others. We are a remote-first company, led by founders who have been operating in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space since 2014.
About You:
As an Accounting Manager you will provide the Director of Operations, and future CFO with administrative support to all accounting and finance functions. You’ll be a crucial contributor on our accounting projects and help support the daily finance operations in a remote start up environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Daily A/P processing, forwarding incoming invoices to our third party accounting vendor to ensure invoices are processed properly on behalf of our 3 business entities
- Primary point of contact for the third party accounting vendor
- Daily A/R functions, manage inbound invoices. Maintain our invoice tracker. Filling and cataloging A/R invoices in the proper folder
- Provide month-end account details to third-party accounting vendor
- Review month-end summary provided by third-party accounting vendor and ensure expenses/assets are allocated to the correct categories
- Download monthly credit card transactions. Manage and sort spending by category. Your bi-weekly credit card reporting will be reviewed by the Finance and Ops teams
- Be able to articulate and document any process or procedure in writing for future reference
- Support auditing process (internal & external)
- Prepare internal & external financial statements
- Prepare weekly asset report for each entity to Steering leadership
- Calculate and report on monthly burn rate along with runway projections
- Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of business activities
- Prepare financial reports for monthly and quarterly Steering leadership review
- Ensure all transactional activities are conducted smoothly not limited to: payroll, payables, receivables, chart of accounts, debt payments, cash disbursements, accruals, reconciliations, etc.
- Recommend improvements to ensure the integrity of a company’s financial information
- Assess current accounting operations and offer recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes; make tangible improvements towards automation of repeatable, low-value and mundane tasks in accounting
- Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting services, as needed
- Manage unanticipated costs by keeping open, scheduled recurring communication streams with peers
- Other duties as assigned
Ideally, What You’ll Have:
- 5 years experience at an accounting firm or on a finance team
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred or equivalent experience
- Ability to manage GL, AP/AR, revenue, asset, cost, and tax accounting processes and reporting
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team member in any level of the organization
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Understanding of computers and software systems including Microsoft Office products and the Internet; Must be able to use MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and Google Workspace Apps independently. Introductory experience using Excel functions like creating pivot table and/or sumif functions with raw data. Formal Microsoft office Excel training is a bonus!
- Be a quick learner and able to demonstrate the ability to follow instructions

- Experience with cryptocurrency preferred or crypto curious
- Comfort level working in a startup environment with multiple entities
