Copper’s Compliance team has been established to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Compliance team aims to support Copper’s business as it continues to embrace the regulatory landscape in which Copper operates.
As the Compliance Officer and MLRO for HK Business and Deputy MLRO for the ADGM business, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing key aspects of regulatory compliance. You will work closely with senior management including regional MLRO’s and the Group Chief Compliance Officer to develop and implement compliance strategies, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities of the role
- Ensure that all activities of the organisation comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Develop, review, and update compliance policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations and industry best practices
- Advance and perform risk assessments and monitor compliance risks, implementing measures to mitigate potential issues
- Prepare and submit necessary regulatory reports and filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead or assist in internal investigations related to compliance matters and recommend corrective actions.
- Support the ADGM MLRO in managing the company's anti-money laundering (AML) program, including suspicious activity reporting and customer due diligence.
- Deputise for the ADGM MLRO (when absent) and assume responsibility for all areas of responsibility
- Act as Nominated Officer for HK SAR reporting
- Audits and Examinations: Manage regulatory audits and examinations, liaising with regulatory bodies as needed.
- Compliance Monitoring: Establish and maintain an effective compliance monitoring program to track and report on compliance activities.
- Advisory Role: Provide compliance advice and guidance to senior management and other departments
Your experience, skills and knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred
- Proven experience in a compliance role, preferably within a financial services or digital assets company.
- In depth understanding of HK regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and practices.
- Ability to independently and remotely but thrives on collaboration and cross jurisdictional working.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards
- Experience of performing risk assessments and implementing the necessary measures.
- Assisting in internal compliance investigations.
- Experience in developing and reviewing compliance policies and procedures
- Professional certification in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, CAMS) is a plus
