About the Team:
As part of the Hardware team, we are responsible for sourcing materials to fuel production of the Orb in times of a global supply chain crisis as well as distributing the Orb worldwide. The supply chain and logistics team plays a critical part in bringing our electronic hardware device to market globally. We work with mechanical and electrical component suppliers, in order to scale a hardware product from prototype to mass production volumes. We are a rapidly growing, highly cross-functional team that strategically partners with every section in every department to create a positive, and unique company brand.
About the Opportunity:
The Global Commodity Buyer position presents a unique opportunity to work in both hardware and cryptocurrency. In this role, you will work alongside a team of buyers to implement supply chain strategies and strategic sourcing to ensure that supplier(s) are capable of meeting Worldcoin’s current and future technical and business requirements. You will gain direct experience with supplier management and logistics methods, processes, and strategies. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following:
- Identifying, selecting, and building relationships with global suppliers of electrical and mechanical components.
- Planning, developing, and implementing the commodity group strategy in close coordination with internal partners worldwide, as well as executing procurement processes.
- Handling and answering all questions related to the commodity group.
- Analyzing and developing the group-wide global supplier structure, taking into consideration and anticipating changing technical conditions.
- Preparing and managing final negotiations and framework agreements in coordination with the Legal team.
- Performing global procurement market analyses and developing benchmarks.
- Independently monitoring, analyzing, and developing procurement needs for new components, technologies, services, and markets.
- Creating TCO analysis, make-or-buy, market analysis, and benchmarks, as well as evaluating new market trends.
- Requesting price quotes and comparisons, conducting negotiations, and placing series orders while adhering to internal regulations and specifications.
- Analyzing and realizing cost reductions.
- Evaluating suppliers and participating in supplier audits.
- Continuously developing and improving procurement processes, commodity group strategy, and cost reduction measures.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or (industrial) engineering, or a similar field.
- Several years of relevant experience in strategic purchasing, ideally on a global scale.
- Strong IT skills, with proficiency in MS Office and SAP systems.
- Knowledge of procurement processes–specifically, supplier management, cost management, and supply chain.
- Knowledge of cost and performance accounting and controls.
- Ability to work within a team and take a solutions-oriented, analytical approach.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Relevant market and product knowledge.
