Web3 Head of Finance, TradeBlock

Compensation: $81k - $90k estimated

Location: CT Stamford, Connecticut, United States

We are looking for a talented finance and strategic leader to join our team as Head of Finance and own FP&A, financial operations and accounting for our company. Reporting to the CEO and supporting leadership in the execution of our comprehensive long-term goals, the ideal candidate will be a clear, confident communicator with a strong sense of judgment and the ability to quickly grasp complex business concepts and distill into a clear, understandable narrative with actionable outcomes. The role will be project-focused and serve across the enterprise with a flexible, innovative, service-oriented approach. An initial project will be implementing and creating our accounting system, expense system and processes supporting the company. This role is for someone who is highly organized, great at project management and can bring business clarity into the form of financial and numerical metrics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

FP&A:

  • Lead the financial planning process and provide financial reporting, forecasts and comprehensive budgets to the executive team and liaise with our parent company CFO
  • Collaborate with business leaders to develop critical business strategies and use analytical and financial modeling to translate theoretical/conceptual ideas into operational realities, business plans and budgets. Prepare the resulting strategic review presentation
  • Connect individual business strategies into comprehensive, enterprise portfolio strategy to serve as the basis for budgets and forecasts
  • Directs preparation of company budgets; developing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; and 3-year plans
  • Work closely with all departments to understand the business and set the appropriate KPIs that will drive performance. Provide senior management with insightful commentary and analysis, facilitating the decision process
  • Actively pursues new ways to contribute to overall profitability and growth including exploration of mergers & acquisitions
  • Will involve significant individual contributor execution and responsibilities

Financial Operations:

  • Partner with People Operations and Department Heads to track staffing expenditures and operating expenses against budgets
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to increase revenue and reduce costs
  • Lead discussions and develop analyses and metrics to support company initiatives
  • Collaborate with CEO and departmental leadership to review and approve vendor contracts and SOWs

Accounting / Controller Functions Oversight:

  • Direct financial operations including accounting processes, including the monthly financial close, accounts receivable and accounts payable, payroll, cash management, working capital, billing, financial reporting, tax and treasury-related items as well as audit
  • Responsible for credit policies and control
  • Manage the debt facilities and relationship with capital partners
  • Developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of progressive finance, business consulting, FP&A, and accounting experience in high-growth environments
  • MBA preferred
  • Conversant in U.S. GAAP accounting rules and U.S. tax structures
  • Must possess excellent executive-level presentation development skills with experience in financial modeling using PowerPoint and Excel
  • Track record of establishing and growing a finance and accounting function
  • Experience working in a growing start-up environment is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in driving cross-functional success
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact well with senior leadership and communicate effectively in meetings
  • Must be proactive and a team player who understands the importance of the role as a key support function to the senior leadership team
  • Planning and organization skills: Effective use of time and resources; skilled at thinking things through and setting priorities
  • Agile; learn quickly, move fast, work well under pressure and be hands-on in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Maintain the highest standards of accuracy and precision; detail-oriented, highly organized and resourceful
