Web3 [Knox Networks] Internal SRE

Overview Knox Networks (under Steel Perlot) is a wholesale and retail banking platform that supports programmable money and digital identity solutions.

Our high-speed interbank platform enables the transactions and settlements of programmable money between central banks, commercial banks and consumers. The underlying database can then be used to provide secure analytics to wholesale stakeholders and support digital identity and banking aggregator solutions for consumers. We are a vertically-integrated, open source software platform that focuses on balancing privacy, scalability and interoperability (with existing and future platforms) across our stakeholder pipeline.

Description As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will help us solve some of the unique challenges of distributed ledger architecture.

The position is based in New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA with full-time salary and benefits. Engineers will be based in the office and may work remotely depending on the situation.

Key Responsibilities, Prioritized:*

****Quarterly OKR setting, against key responsibilities below to be set with direct supervisor.

Support monitoring services that watch over the entire Knox network.

Deploy and maintain various externally-facing services like reference nodes used by developers and customers.

Improve the reliability and observability of our internal infrastructure.

Provide our engineers with a reliable release pipeline and empower them to release and deploy Knox and adjacent tools extremely quickly.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Professional experience with Golang, Rust, and Python.

Site Reliability Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health. Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications. Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions. Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve. Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications. Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding. Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures. Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning. Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts. Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives.

Database Architecture and Infrastructure Create and document the relevant requirements and use cases for our MVP. Work closely with other engineers and executives to build out the interbank platform architecture to power programmable digital fiat. Build, maintain and test core components of our architecture including managing off-chain data ingestion, mobile first encryption, governance protocols, and privacy-enabled verification. Identify opportunities to improve existing systems/workflows for performance, speed, and accuracy.

Preferred Crypto and FinTech Awareness: Understanding and experience working in the financial industry, Familiarity with any of the following: digital wallets, clearing and settlement, privacy, security etc. Understanding and strong interest in cryptocurrencies and the blockchain industry.

Comfort in ambiguous unstructured environments: Building something new comes with significant ambiguity, and we want people that can thrive in that ambiguity. ****The environment is highly dynamic, and there are no precedents.

Requirements - Received a bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or a related technical field, and proven excellence in previous roles. - 5+ years of relevant professional experience. You have a software engineering background or an operations background and have worked as an SRE (or in a very close position) before. - Experience with system architecture. You can create a design document for a cross-region load-balancing app with five microservices, a PostgreSQL cluster, a caching layer, and a Kafka queue—and then implement it on AWS. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines. You can troubleshoot an existing pipeline or build your own, and you've probably worked on both software delivery and cloud-based services deployment. - Experience with distributed systems and container orchestration. You have built or maintained complex Kubernetes clusters before. - Ability to read and write code. You can understand precisely why a recent code change led to degraded performance; you can write scripts and tools to automate routine tasks and eliminate toil. - Strong communication skills. You can give and receive constructive feedback, and you do not shy away from planning meetings and code reviews.
