CoinDesk is hiring a Web3 Manager, Events Programming
Location: NY New York City, New York, United States
CoinDesk is looking for a Manager of Events Programming to join its growing team. This individual will program key sessions and stages for Consensus 2023 (April 2023 in Austin). We seek a person with journalistic instincts, someone who is on top of “where the story is going,” one with a keen sense of the topics that are hot, interesting and that point to the “next big thing” as well as where the tension and conflict lies within the industry and against the corporate and political establishment outside of it. They must also have a creative mindset and an entrepreneurial bent, since we strive to not only tell great stories at our events but to deliver them in cutting edge formats.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program provocative, constructive and industry-leading content for CoinDesk’s Consensus Festival through an editorial, journalistic lens
- Build and maintain a network of contacts to help curate content ideas and reach potential speakers. Interface with partners who bring third-party speakers and content to Consensus
- Work closely with editorial, event operations and commercial teams on event content strategy and execution
- Read continuously and be engaged and informed on crypto/blockchain/web3 industry trends
- Solicit, review and approve speaker submissions for Consensus
- Develop ideas for new types of content and delivery that reflect the crypto/blockchain/web3 industry as well as the evolving events industry.
ABOUT YOU
- A deep familiarity with and knowledge of crypto/blockchain/web3 and adjacent industries, as well as crypto industry culture and trends
- An expansive professional network both inside and outside of crypto
- Significant understanding of crypto and blockchain products and services
- Experience with journalists or in an editorially-focused organization covering the crypto industry; a capacity to spot themes that are newsy and zeitgeisty; firm understanding of the editorial principles by which CoinDesk abides
- 5+ years working in a newsroom or events programming setting
- Highly collaborative, superb organizational skills, and an effective communicator
- Ability to multitask and creatively problem-solve under deadline and in a live-event environment
- Comfortable with multiple technology and data management systems: event platforms, Airtable, Bizzabo, Excel etc
- Adaptability to meet the demands of a start-up culture with limited resources
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
