Golden is hiring a Web3 Ontologist
Location: United States US
Golden is looking for an Ontologist to help us build the taxonomy of billions of entities on our knowledge graph. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an early stage startup and build a world changing product.
Our vision is to create a decentralized knowledge graph protocol that maps 10 billion entities and the public knowledge surrounding them. The world is lacking a decentralized graph of canonical knowledge that is open, free, permissionless and incentivizes contributions to the graph.
You will be the first ontology hire and play a key role in building out the taxonomy of billions of entities. You will work closely alongside engineering, product, and the Golden community of contributors to build out taxonomies in knowledge areas ranging from blockchain technologies, deep space tech, biotech and many more. This role will leverage and implement existing taxonomies while helping develop smart taxonomies where they don’t exist.
We are a globally distributed remote team working in time zones between San Francisco and Prague. Your work will result in a world class product loved by millions of people across the globe.
What You Will Be Doing
- Improve procedures for consistent, high-quality classification, organization, and efficient growth of a knowledge graph.
- Identify systematic relationships between different entities and drive ontology development of such taxonomy from ground up.
- Ensure our ontologies provide comprehensive sub-domain coverage that are available for machine ingestion and inference.
- Monitor proposals on governance contracts and partner with the data team to ensure data accuracy.
- Provide key support for ongoing and new ontologies and taxonomies. Especially as it pertains to blockchain and web3 technologies.
Qualifications We Need
- Experience validating how enterprise clients perceive/think about the taxonomy of our knowledge graph and survey the requirements. Partnering with product and engineering team members to drive customer-centric taxonomy changes.
- Experience working with a community of users, and effectively working with that community to adopt new ontologies and taxonomies.
- Experience with semantic technologies such as OLOGs, OWL, PR-OWL, SPARQL and a background in conducting novel research in a field of knowledge representation.
- Comfortable with open-source and commercial ontology engineering editors such as PoolParty, Protege, TopQuadrant.
- Master’s Degree in Computational Linguistics, Library Science, Computer Science, or related field.
Bonus Points
- Willingness to learn new technical concepts and new tools and a keen interest in technology.
- Background in the domain of machine learning and natural language processing.
- Experience working with big data and applying scripting language for quick prototyping.
- Comfortable with schema-level constructs and ontology manipulation programming libraries.
- Startup experience and an understanding that what worked last month may not be feasible today. You know how quickly things move and thrive as a result.
