Web3 Staff Software Engineer - Backend

String is building the first embedded payment suite designed and tailored for Web3 Gaming. Our developer suite helps game devs build truly immersive experiences and provide integrated fiat payment options without ever sending users to a centralized exchange or to sign up for a third-party on-ramp.

We’re looking to add the next member of our core team of crypto-native engineers, payments nerds, regulatory experts, user experience maximalists passionate about building a key piece of crypto infrastructure.

String is looking for a Lead/Staff/Principal Software Engineer with significant backend experience to build key parts of our payments infrastructure. We’re building out architecture to delight developers and end-users with performant systems, fast decision engines, and intuitive documentation. We’re a startup with an exciting roadmap ahead of us and a ton of opportunity and ownership available. You’ll be one of the first dozen employees at a company looking to enable the UX to bring crypto to the masses through Web3 games.

Role Specifics

• Develop our core functionality — build out the architecture, systems, and services that optimize the performance, security, and reliability of our product;
• Design important aspects of a configurable, flexible developer API that embeds payments in immersive game environments;
• Integrate the third party tools that form parts of our data pipelines and decision engines;
• Help set the tone as an early member of the engineering team to establish culture, practices, and standards;
• Collaborate and share — our team works closely together to ensure we rapidly deliver quality code, with a consistent >

Qualifications

• You’re deeply interested in and engaged by crypto and Web3.
• You’re interested in working at an early stage startup and all that comes with it. You’re willing to take ownership of large responsibilities and ship code, fast.
• 7+ years of backend developer experience.
• Familiarity with any of Golang, Postgres, Redis, AWS, Terraform, or any of their analogs is a plus.
• Bonus if you have experience in payments, fintech, or developer tools.
• You take your work seriously, but you don’t take yourself too seriously. You have good vibes and being in a good-vibes environment is important to you.
