POSITION SUMMARY:
The Content Strategist - Clean Technology role will be a critical part of Greenpeace USA’s innovative campaign centered on advancing solutions to climate challenges in the technology arena to eliminate the climate and community impacts. TheContent Strategist will work collaboratively across our campaigns, online, communications and development teams, with a focus on an ongoing Clean Technology Campaign, and in close collaboration with the campaign project lead, digital strategist, and Social Media Engagement Manager to create unique, regular content that raises the visibility of the campaign and calls attention to key corporate targets.

The Content Strategist is a grant-funded, 6-month, fixed term contract, full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible, hybrid position. This role is preferably based in any authorized Greenpeace state: CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, MD, ME, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OR, VA, WA. This position will report to the Social Media Engagement Manager and is matrixed into the Clean Technology Campaign.

TheContent Strategist is responsible for:

Content Creation:

  • Developing Content and Social Media Strategy for daily campaigning to call out corporate targets for our Clean Technology Campaign and/or promote broader awareness of Bitcoin’s climate and community impacts. Should include responsive content, content made on a short timeline, and bigger flashpoints every few weeks.
  • Creating graphics, videos, social posts, and other content types to call out corporate targets.

Digital Strategy:

  • Collaborating with the Clean Technology Digital Strategist to delegate and execute pieces of the content strategy.

Community Building and Coalition Engagement:

  • Building up a network of individuals, allies and coalition partners on social media who are joining the call to clean up Bitcoin and call out our corporate targets. Includes building relationships, interacting on social, amplifying allied and partner content, making toolkits for allies and partners, etc. Our coalition strategy might include individuals from the climate finance, climate justice, tech accountability spaces, and web3/dweb.
  • Helping plan and execute our coalition social media strategy including the associated Twitter handle.

The minimum requirements for the Content Strategist include:

  • Minimum 5 years experience developing content and social strategy for corporate campaigning and/or political opposition work.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with social video production and/or graphic design
  • Familiarity with programs such as: Photoshop, Canva, Illustrator, etc.
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills are essential skills for the position
  • Proven experience writing for social media in a way that makes campaigns accessible with strong messaging and humor.
  • Proven track record of producing daily content for social media audiences

Additional qualifications for theContent Strategist include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Script writing, video production
  • Empathy to recognize target audience needs, and ability to write impactful and engaging campaign messaging that resonates with our membership
  • Collaborative approach to working with geographically distributed team
  • Project management skills with ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic and deadline-efficient environment.

The salary range for this position is anticipated to be $70,000 - $75,000and is commensurate with experience.
