Associate Counsel
SELF ID is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Associate Counsel to join our team. The Associate Counsel will play a vital role in supporting the Company in various legal matters, including contract review, regulatory compliance, and assisting in corporate governance issues. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated legal professional to grow and develop their skills in a dynamic startup environment.
This is a full-time role reporting to the COO that can be held anywhere in the world. (We are open to considering more experienced or senior applicants who are interested in a part-time/fractional position).
What you’ll do at SELF ID:
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, partnership agreements, licensing agreements, and service agreements.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues to support decision-making and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess legal risks associated with business initiatives, product development, and operational activities.
- Assist in maintaining and organizing corporate records, including board meeting minutes, resolutions, and corporate governance documents.
- Support the Leadership team in managing relationships with external counsel and third-party advisors as needed.
- Handle day-to-day legal inquiries from different departments and provide guidance and advice as required.
What Excites Us:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state Bar Association or eligibility for in-house counsel registration.
- 3-5 years of experience practicing law, preferably with exposure to corporate law, contract review, or related areas either in-house or at a reputable law firm.
- Demonstrated ability to review and analyze contracts with attention to detail and a strong understanding of legal principles.
- Familiarity with corporate governance practices and an understanding of regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Salary Range: $125,000-$150,000 per annum + equity
