Web3 Deputy MLRO - Japan

Responsibilities:

• Be the Deputy MLRO for Japan and support the MLRO to ensure compliance with Japanese AML law and corresponding regulations;
• Performing the AML risk assessment for the Japanese entity;
• Continuously monitor the legal landscape on AML, initiate change and ensure continuous development of the function to ensure adherence to domestic laws and regulations;
• Design and implement of 2nd LoD controls;
• Periodic review of policies and adaptation to change needs coming from regulators, laws or to improve function;
• Performing AML trainings for the Japanese entity;
• Taking care of the transaction monitoring, customer onboarding and escalation process;
• Responsible for closing findings from internal and external supervision bodies;
• Working with FIU, Criminal Authorities and monitoring the SAR process;
• Preparation of the relevant AML reporting;Cooperation with other functions within the group;
• Preparation of and liaison with internal and external audits of the money laundering function;
• Responsibility for the continuous development of internal policies, work procedures and processes.

Requirements:

• At least 3 - 4 years experience in a similar role with clear focus on the financial service industry;
• Strong knowledge of banking and AML laws, regulations and directives; 
• Experience in working with FIU and domestic criminal authorities needed;
• FinTech Experience will be a plus;
• Hands-on and efficient, be a self starter and overtake accountability;
• Team player and strong personality;
• Strong communication, ability to be flexible in a variety of situations, excellent relationship maintenance and sales skills, able to work under pressure;
• Passionate about crypto. Industry experience would be a plus;
• Fluent English and Japanese is a must.
