CoinDesk Indices are the industry standard for institutional single- and multi-asset benchmarks for crypto assets. The flagship CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (XBX) has been in operation continuously since 2014. Financial institutions rely on the XBX and other CoinDesk Indices products to benchmark billions of dollars in assets under management and to price hundreds of millions in over-the-counter transactions, daily.
CoinDesk Indices is seeking a Director, Policy & Controls to develop, document and maintain policies and controls used during the development, management, calculation, and validation of the world’s leading cryptocurrency index offering of industry benchmarks and market indices for index-linked products.This role will be critical to ensuring adherence to IOSCO Principles and other Benchmark Regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create internal and external-facing policy and methodology documents related to the development, management, and oversight of indices.
- Build and maintain a control framework designed to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of index data.
- Develop and maintain policy review frequencies and procedures for critical documents.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and controls.
- Support and help lead audits involving the operations and governance of indices.
- Assist in developing management action plans designed to mitigate actual or potential risks to the management, calculation, and oversight of the indices.
- Create End User Computing framework to provide version control and security on processes and models designed to maintain, calculate and/or validate index data.
- Make recommendations, along with supporting quantitative and qualitative analysis, on potential changes to Index Policies and established control framework to the governing Committee.
- Strong ability to manage and lead projects.
- Ability to work with internal stakeholders as well as regulators and other governing bodies to demonstrate our adherence to regulatory principles and address any recommendations.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry managing and overseeing financial benchmarks.
- Experience developing and maintaining policies and procedures for financial benchmarks.
- Understanding of the IOCSO Principles for financial benchmarks.
- Experience designing and implementing a control framework.
- Creating KPIs and other metrics to measure performance.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
- Must be curious, a methodical thinker, and detail oriented.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify and document complicated concepts.
Preferred
- CFA or MBA
- Strong knowledge of the digital asset market and regulatory environment
- Experience on an Index/Oversight Committee responsible for financial benchmarks.
- Regulatory or Compliance experience for financial benchmarks
