The Block delivers deep insight into how this emerging sector interacts with traditional finance, technology, governments, and markets. The Block’s foundation is simple: we are the first and final word in digital assets. 

The Block is seeking a FinTech Reporter to help our fast-moving and growing news team break news and scoop the wider fintech sector.

Title: Fintech Reporter

Objectives: A line has been drawn between crypto and the wider fintech sector. But that line is now blurring as more and more previously non-crypto fintech firms expand into the sector, and vice versa. 

The Block is reacting by ramping up its dedicated fintech coverage, with a particular focus on neobanks, investment platforms, lenders and payment firms. 

Reporting to the Fintech Editor, the Fintech Reporter will help lead the expansion of The Block’s coverage to include key developments in fintech. 

Specifically, the Fintech Reporter will:

-- Develop a network of sources at leading fintech firms to become a go-to source for information on the industry.  

-- Pitch and write breaking and original news stories on fintech firms, including those related to technological innovation, regulation/public policy, fundraising, partnerships, hiring and so on.

-- Pitch, develop and write in-depth features to inform The Block’s paying audience about critical developments and trends in the fintech sector, with scope for investigative pieces and profiles.  

-- Work closely with the Fintech Editor to refine The Block’s strategy as it expands its editorial scope by, for example, helping to decide which companies and trends are worth paying attention to.
