Web3 Head of Site Reliability Engineering

ROLE

At Gluwa, cloud computing continues to allow us to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation. To continue this transformation, we’re seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale Site Reliability Systems, Runbooks, and Policies. The fore role responsibility is to keep all user facing and internal services running smoothly and highly available. The ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based tech, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, experience mentoring and managing a team, and advanced industry knowledge is key to keeping us on the forefront.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for Site Reliability
• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding SRE
• Take over and continue to improve our PagerDuty implementation
• Implement and utilize an On-Call shift strategy and runbooks to prevent downtime and degraded services
• Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams on building highly available services
• Work with DevOps to Improve our deployment / fallback process and make it as boring and reliable as possible
• Review Azure and AWS services and ensure they are right-sized and reliable

DAILY/MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Think about systems - edge cases, failure modes, behaviors, specific implementations.
• Know your way around Azure
• Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for Azure solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
• Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix, and document problems, and implement preventive measures
• Have an urge to collaborate and communicate asynchronously
• Have an enthusiastic, go-for-it attitude. When you see something broken, you can't help but fix it
• Educate teams on the implementation of new Site Reliability Initiatives
• Have an urge to document all the things so you don't need to learn the same thing twice
• Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or mathematics
• 8+ years of experience of managing, implementing, and scaling Site Reliability organizations
• Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected frameworks
• Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, web application firewalls, advanced analytics
• Proven ability to collaborative with multi-disciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Azure and/or AWS certifications are a plus
• Extensive experience managing and implementing SRE platforms such as PagerDuty, Runbooks, and Grafana
• Experience with VM management in Azure would be great, but is not required
• Knowledge of web services, API, REST, and RPC
• Experience working with cryptocurrency would be valuable
