The finance team provides critical information to the company's leadership for effective management, whilst helping other departments assess their performance against objectives. Each vertical within the finance team plays an important role in helping the wider business, whether it be through transaction/invoice processing and supplier/client payments in our AR and AP functions, consolidation and management accounting in our Reporting function, cash and liquidity management in our Treasury function or vendor management and onboarding in our Procurement function. The collective efforts of the finance team help deliver critical information to leadership and help their colleagues and company achieve their goals.
Overall responsible for ongoing management of purchasing strategy and activity and for ensuring optimal supplier performance and price. Develop and implement a strategy to ensure the procurement function is adding value, mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings. Maintain strategic supplier relationships and manage the development of contracts, contractual relationships and contract management to deliver continuous improvement in delivery of goods and services by the supply base.
Key Responsibilities of the role
- Overall responsibility for Purchasing and Cost Estimating activities across the business
- Create and implement best practice purchasing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance
- Ensure that purchasing strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets. This includes: Terms and conditions, creditworthiness, international reach, supplier selection/de-selection, evaluation and rationalisation of supply chain solutions including vendor managed inventory, supplier consignments and safety stock
- Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budgeting process
- Take ownership of the purchasing policy, guidelines and any associated documents
- Responsible for the onboarding process for all new spend requests, including collaboration with IT, IT security, legal, risk, privacy teams etc and constantly seeking improvements for this process, by sourcing feedback from internal teams
- Identify any cost-saving opportunities within Copper’s supply chain
- Lead on reviewing of contractual and commercial agreements with vendors, including QBRs with major supplier
- Business partner and stakeholder manage
Your experience, skills and knowledge
- Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities, results oriented with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines and commercially and financially astute with experience of managing budgets
- A strategic thinking and understanding of Procurement processes in a fast growing company
- Procurement experience in SaaS / Fin Tech company would be an advantage
- Demonstrable experience of leading a purchasing function with a proven track record in strategic purchasing leadership delivering effective purchasing strategies, policies, processes and systems
- Preferably with 3-5 years post CIPS qualified experience. Newly qualified with similar experience will be considered.
- Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers
