Web3 Product Engineer

Hivemapper is a decentralized map built by people using their smartphone, dashcam, or drone. It represents a fundamental shift in how maps are built. Forward looking businesses use our Map API. Our broad customer base spans enterprise tech, mapping and navigation, transportation and logistics, insurance and real estate, etc.

The Role:

We’re looking for engineers to build high performance products across data and content management, geospatial data, mobile apps, edge compute, and more. The ideal candidate is comfortable pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with a browser without sacrificing performance or reliability. You’re interested in engineering beautiful products that define how users will interact with our data-driven products.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement robust and high performance applications and their supporting systems
• Solve interesting graphics programming, algorithms, UX, and architectural challenges
• Research and develop novel edge compute products
• Research and develop new ways to visualize and interact with data on a map
• Build product prototypes and experiment with visualization techniques that benefit a multitude of map content consumers and their millions of users
• Maintain, architect, and build map databases and APIs

Requirements:

• Building applications that deal with large volumes of data
• Working with or building geospatial APIs and content systems
• Fluency with TypeScript or JavaScript
• Experience with React or Angular
• Demonstrated experience building and testing features end to end with a keen interest in UI/UX design as it pertains to interacting with large volumes of mapping or scientific data

Bonus Points:

• WebGL/WebGPU
• Applied math skills (linear algebra, computational geometry, etc.
• Experience shipping code at scale (>=1000s of users)
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with data visualization
• Familiarity with low level application details (memory management, GPU programming, etc.)
