The Resource Management function sits within the larger Professional Services team and is critical to the smooth running of the team on a global scale. This role is accountable for the effective planning and forecasting of the group, as well as continuously improving resource management processes and influencing hiring decisions using data and understanding of resource profiles.
 
Reporting to the Head of Professional Services, in this role, you will manage daily responsibilities independently and influence multiple stakeholders.
Commercially aware and operationally driven, you will work alongside PS technical and delivery leads ensuring the management of internal and external resources is operationally effective and allows the company to be more competitive.
In this role you will also build close relationships with Engagement Managers, Delivery Teams and Partners to ensure the smooth scheduling and onboarding of individuals to release project goals. You will anticipate bottlenecks and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.  
 
The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple assignments and processes concurrently, prioritizing accordingly – within and outside of their team. They can assess risk and proactively navigate demand and capacity issues.
 
Responsibilities

Managing Pipeline and Resourcing Needs

    • Working collaboratively with senior program leads, reviewing and allocating resources against projects to ensure the successful delivery of projects. Analysing skillsets and managing a pool of resources internally and externally, understanding the demand and projecting shortages ahead of time
    • Lead weekly reviews with Engagement Managers and Professional Services Team Leads to action resource requests in the pipeline, walk through conflicts/priorities and plan consultant assignments
    • Manage a resource pool of software engineers, solution architects, delivery managers and product owners with different capabilities against multiple inbound resourcing requests
    • Allocating resources and adapting to changes based on customer priorities
    • Use workforce planning strategies to create a pressure-tested global demand plan and provide insights on hiring decisions
    • Work closely with the Recruitment team to support the Head of Professional Services and Team Leads in the recruitment process based on staffing needs
    • Line management of Junior resource manager

Managing External Partners

    • Work with Partner Managers to identify opportunities for partner collaboration on client projects to help meet resourcing demand
    • Manage the global evaluation and onboarding process for partners to ensure contract sourcing and external contractor onboarding activities happen promptly
    • Work closely with Professional Services Team Leads to evaluate the quality of partner resources versus the requirements of client projects

Reporting and Insights

    • Compile, lead and analyze resource management reports (available resources, current resource allocations, unstaffed demand, etc.) for delivery to the Head of Professional Services and the Team Leads
    • Constantly monitor resource assignments and timesheet data to ensure forecast accuracy to reduce estimated vs. actual time and provide accurate revenue forecasting and utilization reports

Essential Skills

    • Understanding of technical resource skillsets required to resource projects
    • Prior experience in Consulting, Strategic Planning and/or Operations in a Professional Services environment in a software organisation
    • Able to communicate clearly and concisely and share information/new ideas with other team members and across the organisation
    • Enthusiastic, self-starter and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with the ability to meet tight deadlines and balance multiple competing priorities
    • Familiar with forecasting processes and tools, preferably Salesforce
    • Excellent negotiation, conflict management and influencing skills
    • Familiarity with resource automation systems for Professional Services and ability to create insightful analysis
    • Excited by collaborating across a globally-dispersed team in a fast-growth company
    • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
