BlockFi is looking for a Senior Associate to join our growing team!

About the Team:

At BlockFi, our Security Team works across the entire spectrum of technologies and products that power our business, protecting over $3B in value.

This role is full-time remote, even after COVID. This is a key role on the Security’s Governance Risk Management and Compliance team. The Security Team is largely remote, working across timezones and prides itself on being solutions-focused. While facing incredibly complex threats in an ever-change security landscape, BlockFi has continued to thrive and needs the right tools built by passionate and energetic people.

Your Mission

As Senior Associate on the Governance, Risk, & Compliance team, you’ll be a part of a team that is responsible for designing, operationalizing and overseeing control activities across the security organization, as well as the broader company. You will be expected to proactively identify and remediate security risks to enable the business in achieving their goals. To be able to do that you will be required to remain up to speed with an evolving regulatory environment and to quickly gain an understanding of the growing product suite. The ability to cultivate a solid working relationship with our core product engineering team and others including enterprise risk management, compliance and legal is a must.

Responsibilities:

• Support GRC Manager in building out and maintaining BlockFi’s security controls environment
• Test operating effectiveness of controls
• Monitor and report on Key Risk Indicators
• Work with the business and technology teams to support with risk identification, tracking and remediation
• Assist BlockFi teams in security compliance related matters
• Assist in completing regulatory filings and exams
• Support security and legal teams in addressing client Personally Identifiable Information (PII) requests
• Assist in developing and maintenance of security policies

Your Expertise:

• 3+ years of experience in a GRC, IT audit and/or security role
• Working knowledge of IT security and GRC standards (NIST CSF, ISO 27k1, COSO, etc.)
• Experience in testing, monitoring and reporting on internal controls (background in control design is a plus)
• Experience in conducting or taking part in SOC1/SOC2/SOX/ISO/PCI DSS audits is a plus
• Big 4 experience is highly desirable but not a must
• Cryptocurrency and blockchain experience would be a plus
• Demonstrated ability to continuously learn and work independently
• Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals, including peers in non-technical departments
• Have extreme attention to detail without sacrificing execution rigor
• Bias towards action and own tasks end-to-end
• Work through hurdles and tactfully navigate the organization driving towards the objective
• Be a doer that can get things done and unblock tasks while building deep organizational relationships along the way
• Be thoughtful and analytical - ask why and challenge preconceived notions
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Own the company’s problems like they are your own
