Job summary
The Devices and Services (D&S) Trust & Security team works to ensure that our devices and services are designed and implemented to the high standards required to maintain and enhance customer trust. Security and Privacy are paramount to maintaining trust and we need to continue to build trusted products, maintain and operate trusted environments, and advocate trust to customers and stakeholders. The team develops security automation for devices & services, performs penetration testing, and handles and tracks incident responses to resolution. The Trust team is responsible for enabling business growth and innovation while honoring data policies and controls that help protect customer trust. We are responsible for defining and executing on the security and privacy requirements across the entire organization.

The Digital and Services Crypto Team (DS-Crypto) in DSTS is looking for a cryptography engineer with software development experience to contribute to post-quantum cryptography transition within Amazon Devices. In addition, candidate will work with development teams to answer their cryptography questions and identify security and cryptography concerns in devices/web services/applications at all stages of development (from concept to in-production). Candidate will participate in the development of guidance and training material regarding secure/proper use of cryptography.

Key job responsibilities
* writing code that implements cryptographic operations or optimizing such code or algorithms;
* answers questions from development teams on the correct cryptography to use for a particular situation, recommending code to implement a cryptographic operation, or reviewing a cryptographic implementation for correctness and security;
* writing guidance in the form of papers or wiki pages to advise development teams on policy, process and solutions for cryptographic problems.

About the team
DS-Crypto sets strategic direction for use of cryptography in devices through research, development, training and consultation. Members of the DS-Crypto team research advances in cryptographic standards and algorithms, serving as the experts for post-quantum cryptography, homomorphic encryption, lightweight cryptography, security protocols, and the implementation of these technologies. Team members provide the cryptographic expertise for DSTS development teams for consultative design exploration and security design reviews. Cryptography team members contribute to advancing DSTS’s level-of-knowledge by developing and leading training classes and adding to the cryptography and devices security body-of-knowledge increasing development team’s self-sufficiency.
