Figment is hiring a Web3 Software Engineering Manager - Protocol Development

Description of the Role
Figment is taking bold steps to push the future of Web3 technology by joining Open Source projects as core contributors. We have built a group of talented, engaged engineers to tackle these challenges and need a highly effective engineering manager to lead them.
The members of the Protocol Development team work shoulder-to-shoulder with core contributors from other organizations, the global open source community and non-profit foundations. Web3 Engineers deliver solutions for a diverse range of stakeholders, including internal teams. The work covers topics as diverse as direct contributions to blockchain nodes to designing data oracles to dApps like NFT marketplaces. This effort will form the foundations of not only Figment’s products but the technical foundations of tomorrow’s internet.
Software Engineering Managers in the Protocol Development team group lead a dedicated team of passionate engineers working tirelessly to advance blockchain technology by contributing to the protocol. The Engineering Manager navigates and removes blockers to create a clear path towards completion, working closely with Project and Product Management stakeholders to ensure success. As an active member of the team they bring a keen technical eye and high EQ which further enhances their positive impacts on the project. They cut through the noise so the team can focus on delivering excellence.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely execution of requirements
- Actively cultivate an expertise within the team for dApp, Smart Contract and core development on a variety of blockchain protocols
- Assist in the design and administration of training / staff development programs for their team
- Recruit, interview and manage individual contributors for their team
- Participate in the creation of pull requests, peer reviews, specifications and proposals as needed
- Encourage, facilitate and guide the development of best practices, patterns and procedures for their team
Key Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional experience leading a cross functional team of software engineers
- 2+ years of professional experience managing individual contributors in a remote environment
- Practical experience designing, coding and deploying software based solutions in a cloud-computing environment
- Prior professional experience architecting, documenting and executing software development projects in a team environment
Desired Attributes
- Prior experience with or deeply interested in blockchain technology
- Prior experience with or deeply interested in developing with languages and technologies such as Rust, Golang, WASM, TypeScript, AssemblyScript etc
- Prior experience with or deeply interested contributing to Open Source projects
