Compensation: $21k - $64k estimated

Who We Are

The Solana Foundation is a non-profit foundation based in Zug, Switzerland, dedicated to the adoption, decentralization, and security of the Solana network. The Solana Foundation is working to realize a world where individuals own their data, use permissionless networks, and transfer information freely around the world.

The Solana Foundation policy team builds and executes a policy strategy aimed at helping build a more robust, safe, and thriving web3 ecosystem across the world. The Foundation’s policy strategy is built around advancing three north stars: 1) Protecting a free, open, and interoperable internet, 2) Creating clear, reasonable pathways for entrepreneurs to be able to build in digital assets, and 3) Being stewards for safe blockchain.

The Solana Foundation is looking for a web3 policy intern to support every aspect of that strategy–from digging into how legislation impacts these goals to identifying constituents from the Solana ecosystem who can articulate their story well in front of policymakers. Your job description will include, but isn’t limited to:

  • Helping organize at least one “Hill day”, bringing Solana ecosystem builders to Washington to meet with policymakers

  • Building a use case and constituency database, so we have up to date information on what ecosystem teams are building, what Congressional districts they live in, and why it matters to policymakers

  • Writing policy updates and memos on the latest policy movements for Solana Foundation executives and the company more broadly

  • Drafting policy related content for communications, including Twitter threads, op-eds, and blog posts

  • Building and supporting the Foundation’s efforts to be a steward for safe blockchain

Here’s a few things about you that should be true:

  • You’re a strong communicator: You can explain what an L1 is to an average American and why blockchain is exciting

  • You stay up on the latest in web3: You can explain the differences between various L1s and what a zk proof is. You have favorite Dapps and technology that you’re excited about.

  • You stay up on the latest in US government: You can explain the role of Congress, regulators, and the executive branch in policymaking. You wake up almost every morning and read the latest Hill drama.

  • You consistently have 20-40 hours of availability this summer or fall

  • You either live in DC or are willing to make several trips to the Washington DC area during the course of your internship
